They suspend Staubitz for his hit but not Hordichuk who ran Boll from behind last week and knocked him out of the game with some type of injury 30 seconds into the game. Boll was hurt but I dont know to what extent and I think he might even have been tkod on the hit because he was helped off the ice. IMO A hit from behind is way worse. Boll had no idea he was coming. The NHL is so fukked at times. Its not always easy but you would think that they would at least be consistent but they are just the oppisite.

Hordichuk held up on his hit and didn't go balls to the wall into Boll who would have been hit clean if he wasn't hit by, I think, Rypien first, and Hordichuk was fined for it anyway.

I agree that he let up a bit but he still hit him completely from behind. If it wasnt Boll and would have been Nash Hordichuk is suspended. One of the first things we are taught when we start to check is not from behind and the Stop signs are on the jerseys to remind us and I know you are aware of this. The TSN panel went ove the hit last night and Mactavish and Jones agreed and said no suspension but Bob Mackenzie thought their should have been. Hordy was fined so they (nhl) did view it as somewhat dirty. Not tying to go pussified but that is the most gutless play in hockey.

I was watching this game when it happened. Unbelievable that they would hand out a suspension for a hit like this, but at this point nothing honestly surprises me all that much anymore.

Ugh. I really don't understand the "crackdown on headshots". Whether the league chooses to hand out subsequent discipline for this type of hit seems like they're just flipping a coin (although it always seems to fall against the favor of anyone who drops the gloves with regularity). It may have been an elbow, it definitely was a charge, but no injury was caused and he was penalized during the game. For me, that was enough, but with the "crackdown" I'm not shocked he got a game suspension. But there just seems to be a continued lack of consistency when the league hands down rulings about this.
