Bolts ask for Schenn in Trade Talk

Quote:
The Tampa Bay Lightning have set a price for their second overall pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft and it appears to be too high for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Leafs general manager Brian Burke has confirmed to Sportsnet via e-mail that the Lightning have asked for Toronto defencemen Tomas Kaberle and Luke Schenn along with the team's No. 7 pick in exchange for Tampa's No. 2 selection.

Yup. That was apart of the deal. But I don't think any fan in the Bay area wants Kab' back.

I wouldn't mind Schenn though. That said, I'd rather have Zenon in the lineup for half the season....

I'd definetly do that deal if I were TB. It seems unreasonable though, And I'd like to keep Malone.

Malone would be quite the salary dump( especially long-term), though I dont think they'd take a character player like Malone out of the lockeroom, and especially considering how much of an impact he's had on Stamkos and his development. Also, he is very popular with the fans, and this would almost as bad as losing either Vinny or Marty, though not to THAT extent.

That said, if this is kind of a salary dump, taking on Kaberle's contract wouldn't exactly be helpful. But our d-core could use the help.

To be honest, if Malone can do what he did in a situation like Tampa's, his salary isn't too bad for me. I'd rather see Prospal and Krajicek or Malik leave.

**** that.

Burke better not do that. Trading Kaberle and Schenn is just like giving up our whole blue line. Burke should be smart enough not to do that.

He is. No worries there. He won't be trading Schenn either. Frankly, I'm just pleased that Lawton puts that much value into this pick. He set a very high bar, and the fact that he even set a bar at all shows me he knows what value this pick has, and he won't roll over easily like he has done in the past for sh1tty offers. In interviews with him, he never seems positive on anything, and he seems very passive, so it's good to see him set something in stone, even if it's only setting the bar for the pick.

I'm with you on Malik. He was a fukin joke and a train wreck last season and won't be any better this season; the dude is a good guy, but a cancer in his own zone. Only the Tampa Bay Lightning would keep that guy on the team, but they should cut their ties now that they're trying to go forward as a franchise. And in terms of Prospal, he could be gone in a draft related trade, or gone before the trade deadline depending on how the club is doing this year. It all depends on how things are going.

Krajcek won't be going anywhere. Lawton probably has gay affairs with him.....

I would like to think that Burke would'nt do it but working for MLSE tends to make smart people stupid so it really would'nt surprise me.

Wow, horrible trade proposal on the part of the Bolts. Why would any team accept that? Malone being included at least makes it approach reasonable, but Schenn has such huge upside that trading him away in such a package would essentially equate to the Leafs betting against Schenn having any sort of stardom in his future. And based on how the Leafs and Burke have acted so far, why would Tampa even fathom that something like that might happen?
