Blues Sign Sobotka to One-Year Deal

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday the club has signed forward Vladimir Sobotka (vla-DIH-meer, suh-BOHT-kah) to a one-year contract.

Sobotka, 22, played in 61 games last season with Boston, registering 10 points (four goals, six assists) along with 30 penalty minutes.

The 5-10, 183-pound center has played in 134 National Hockey League (NHL) games over three seasons, recording 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) and 64 penalty minutes.

The Trebic, Czech Republic native was originally drafted by Boston in the fourth round, 106th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

I'll lose him!

Sobotka is a gritty little character that plays much bigger than his real size, but he needs to gain more finesse skills, another guy with the same grit and more offensive potential will oust him.

It's weird, whenever Sob got assigned to Providence he absolutely tore it up down there. That talent is there, but he can't translate it over to the NHL.
He's still a more than servicable NHL player though.
