Blues Sign Oshie to One-Year Deal

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday the club has re-signed forward T.J. Oshie to a one-year contract.

“We’re excited to have T.J. in the fold for another season,” said Armstrong. “His energy and versatility make him an integral part of our club.”

Oshie, 24, dressed in 49 games for the Blues this past season recording 34 points including 12 goals, 22 assists and a +10 rating.

"It feels great. I couldn't be happier and I'm glad to be back in St. Louis. I always knew that would be the end result," Oshie said. "I'm very excited. Now I can just focus on working out."

The 5’11”, 195-pound forward posted a career-high seven-game point streak from Oct. 11 to Oct. 28 (goal, eight assists) and also lead the club in shootout shooting percentage converting on four of his five attempts (80%) for the year.

Oshie has played in 182 career National Hockey League (NHL) games over three seasons with the Blues, amassing 121 points including 44 goals and 77 assists.

The Everett, Washington native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 24th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

"I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else," Oshie said. "I'm very happy with it and it's finally done."

I was expecting last season to really be Oshie's breakout season and he was doing well until that fluke accident with his ankle put him out for a few months.

I can honestly see Oshie potting 60 points this season and get a raise from this 1 year deal.

Oshie better mature the **** up and start progressing. The Blues have got a hell of a team coming into this upcoming season, and this appears to be THE year for Oshie to either show he's got it in him to lead, or possibly be shown the exit - like Erik Johnson.
