Blues Sign Martin Rucinsky

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has signed free agent forward Martin Rucinsky.

“In Martin, we have added a veteran goal scorer with proven leadership skills to our line-up today,” said Davidson. “We are happy to have an opportunity to acquire a player of Martin’s ability and look forward to his second stint with the St. Louis Blues.”

Rucinsky, 35, was a point-a-game player last season with the New York Rangers, recording 55 points (16 goals, 39 assists) in 52 games. He has registered 20-plus goals in four of his 14 NHL seasons and 40-plus points on five occasions.

The 6-1, 207-pound forward posted NHL career-highs in all offensive categories, points (75), goals (29) and assists (46) during the 1995-96 season with Montreal and Colorado.

The Most, Czech Republic native has appeared in 869 career NHL games during his 14-year NHL career, amassing 563 points (224 goals, 339 assists) along with 733 penalty minutes. He was originally Edmonton’s second selection, 20th overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.

The Blues need all the scoring help they can get although I don't know how much scoring he has left in him.

If they split up their big guns, which I'm not sure have much ammo left themselves, Rucinsky might put up solid numbers.
