Blues Recall Matt Walker and Peter Sejna From Peoria

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Walker from the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the Blues have recalled forward Peter Sejna under emergency conditions.

Walker, 26, has skated in 19 games for the Blues this season, collecting 40 penalty minutes. The Beaverlodge, Alberta native appeared in his 100th career NHL game on November 12 against the Edmonton Oilers.

Sejna, 27, ranks second on the Rivermen this season with 36 points and leads the team with 24 assists in 39 games played. He has skated in 27 career NHL games, all with the Blues, recording seven points (four goals, three assists) and eight penalty minutes.

In yesterday's game against Los Angeles, both Jay McKee and Dan Hinote suffered injuries that would put them out for a while. Matt Walker has been recalled to help Jamie Rivers fill in McKee's spot, and Senja has been recalled under emergency conditions to fill in for Hinote at forward. The Blues didn't have any other forwards on the team, so that's why it's under "emergency conditions".

This is good news for fight fans. Now that McKee has gone down for the third time this year, maybe Walker will get a chance to play. Murray better play Walker over Rivers, but that's doubtful. But, at least there is a better chance for him to play. The Blues play a tough Phoenix team tomorrow so let's hope that Murray dresses Walker. They need an enforcer in the lineup.

It's also nice to see Peter Sejna get a chance in the NHL. He's not a fighter or anything, just a skill player. He was second on the team in points for Peoria, so he's been having a great year in the AHL. Hopefully he can contribute up here in the NHL and help put some pucks in the net for the Blues, who have been on fire lately. As a Blues fan I was happy to hear that these two have been recalled. I know both of them are dying for a chance to play in the NHL. Murray better not put Walker in the pressbox.

Good news. Now Walker can get back into what he does best and that is playing physical and fighting.
