Blues Recall D.J. King; Place Dan Hinote on IR

St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has placed forward Dan Hinote on injured reserve. The team also announced it has recalled forward D.J. King from the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Hinote, 29, suffered an upper body injury in Saturday’s game against Los Angeles. He has skated in 41 games for the Blues this season, collecting 10 points (five goals, five assists).

King, 22, made his NHL debut with the Blues this season on Oct. 5 at San Jose. He has played in seven games and registered nine penalty minutes. King has skated in 31 games with Peoria, recording five points (three goals, two assists) along with a team-high 91 penalty minutes.

The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native was originally the Blues sixth-round selection, 190th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Now he better drop the mitts tonight with Thornton or Parros. He needs to show what he can do!

Yeah this is excellent just in time for the Ducks game. Hope for the Ducks guys to pick up the pace again after a slow start of the year, with both Walker and King on the roster for the Blues atleast something should happen.

Hinote is a good player to have, playing with an edge, but King is definitely a step up in the fighting category.

I thought Matt Walker was still on a conditioning stint down in Peoria?

Nope, Walker got called back up over the weekend, which is also good news.

I'm glad that the Blues are giving King another chance. Hopefully he plays well so he stays up here for a while, but I doubt it. However, the Blues called up Peter Sejna too, so I don't even know if King will get any playing time. Hopefully they play King over McClement though like they did last time against Columbus. Either King or Walker BETTER be in the lineup tonight (or both would be nice too) so either one of them can take on Thornton or Parros! Tonights game should be good.

It's real nice to see King back up in the NHL. Hopefully he plays, and if he does, hopefully he shows his true fighting skills! He's a good heavyweight.
