Blues Recall D.J. King From Peoria

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has recalled forward D.J. King from the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

King, 22, has played in nine games for the Blues this season, registering 16 penalty minutes. He has skated in 35 games with Peoria, recording seven points (three goals, four assists) along with a team-high 102 penalty minutes.

The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by the Blues as their sixth round selection, 190th in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Hopefully this time we get Boogaard-King on Sunday, instead of King being scratched, and Boogs getting about 2 seconds of ice time.

Hell yeah! This is awesome news! D.J. King is a very good fighter, and he's really young. If he stayed up here the whole year, he would definitely be in the Top 10. He already has two draws against Boogaard and Low, and a win against Thornton. Now the Blues will have TWO heavyweights in their lineup once again. Walker AND King.

I'm really hoping for King vs. Parker tonight, and maybe even Walker vs. Clowe. They would both be VERY good HW fights...

I just took a look at the Blues upcoming schedule, and I understand why they called King up. They are playing several teams in a row that have a heavyweight, so King should be able to find plenty of dance partners in their next few games. Here is a look at their upcoming schedule, and I also listed the possible dance partners for King to fight:

Tonight (2/13) -- vs. San Jose; King/Walker vs. Parker/Clowe
Tomorrow (2/14) -- at Columbus; King vs. Shelley!
Friday Night (2/16) -- vs. Nashville; King vs. Hordichuk!
Sunday (2/18) -- vs. Minnesota; King vs. Boogaard! Please let King be in the lineup this time.
Next Tuesday (2/20) -- vs. Columbus; King vs. Shelley! I'm going to this game so I'm excited for this one!

Five games in a row against teams with a legit heavyweight, so Walker and King should be fighting a lot this coming week. They should be able to find plenty of dance partners. I'm really excited now. D.J. is the best.

Lets hope he plays more than one game. Every time he got called up this year he played one game then got scratched from the next 3 then sent down then recalled again and the same thing happens. Hopefully Parker is in the lineup tonight.

Lets just hope they are both in, and that King is still up by Sunday...

It is good to see guys like King getting the call to the NHL. I hope these types of call ups continue to happen.

D.J. King should get the chance to play every game on the 4th line. He's a great fighter and very entertaining.

I agree and he does have some upside in his playing ability. Not that bad of a skater and he's got good balance which is allways important. Hinote will be back this weekend so I hope Murray does'nt send him down. With Shelley, Hordichuk and Boogaard on deck, I think he need's to stick in the line up for awhile.

Well, he's expected to play tonight against Nashville, so hopefully we see Hordichuk vs. King tonight! Also, this will be his 3rd game in a row that he will play in, so hopefully that's good news. I hope he stays up here for a while, because the last time he played in three games in a row was at the beginning of the year in October!

Yeah, let's hope. He's supposed to still be with the team on Sunday, so he will probably play, because after his fight with Parker the other night, he has become a fan favorite in St. Louis, and I think Murray now wants him as our full-time enforcer. Which is awesome news.

Breaking news from 590 the fan: Hinote won't be back this weekend, and supposedly the word is out that he will be out for a long time. 590 even said that he could be out for the season. I like Hinote, but I'm glad, because this means that King might stay with the team for the rest of the year! He could be our full-time enforcer now. I was pumped when I heard that!
