Blues Reach Agreement With B.J. Crombeen

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has re-signed forward B.J. Crombeen.

“B.J. played a huge role for us up front with his scoring and toughness in his rookie year,” said Davidson. “We expect him to provide the same competitiveness and intensity next season.”

Crombeen, 25, was claimed on waivers by the Blues from Dallas on Nov. 18, 2008 and made his Blues debut on Nov. 21, 2008 vs. Anaheim. He played in 81 games, registering 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) and ranked second among NHL rookies with 148 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 212-pound forward scored the game-winning goal in two consecutive games from Dec. 6-8, becoming the first rookie in franchise history to score the game-winning goal in two consecutive team games. Crombeen also recorded his first career hat trick on Dec. 8 vs. Nashville becoming the first Blues rookie to score a hat trick since 1992.

The Denver, Colorado native was originally Dallas’ second round selection, 54th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

As long as it's not an outrageous amount of money, then it's good that the Blues are keeping Crombeen. He did very well in St. Louis and showed that he had some offense to his game.

You have to love the Blues toughness. King, Janssen, Crombeen, Jackman, Backes, etc.
