Blues Assign Walker to Peoria for Conditioning
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Matt Walker to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen for a conditioning stint.
Walker, 26, has skated in 19 games for the Blues this season, collecting 40 penalty minutes. The Beaverlodge, Alberta native appeared in his 100th career NHL game on November, 12 against the Edmonton Oilers. Walker was originally St. Louis’ third round selection, 83rd overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. |

Its because there Coach is Murray...

The Blues are just trying to get Walker some playing time, because their real #6 defenseman Christian Backman just came back today, so Walker got pushed back to the #8 spot. They are trying to knock the rust off of him, and I'm fine with that. At least he will get to play. I just hope he plays well down there so he proves that he deserves to play in the NHL. I'm sure he will give it his all down there in the AHL.
Peoria will have a really tough team now. They will have D.J. King, Matt Walker, Rocky Thompson, Gavin Morgan, and players like Glumac and FitzGerald who fight sometimes. They have 3-4 good heavyweights on their team, so they will be exciting to watch. |
