The blues are stockpiling young players with potential. Eric Johnson and TJ Oshie are two of the best players in US college hockey and should both be on board next season. Seems like the blues got the better of the bruins in this trade.

For a pretty young guy with so much potential, he sure has been bounced aroud the league quite a bit already....Toronto, San Jose, Boston, now the Blues....hopefully all this movement doesn't tank his career. Blues just got a potential gem, although Wideman is nothing to sneer at either!

I heard there was a 1st or 2nd round draft pick involved... anyone hear that also?
I'm glad we got rid of Mara, he was pretty shaky on defense... The Wideman trade makes sense though, think about it, the b's need a guy or two that can shoot the puck. With Murray out they have no shooters, only passers (Savard, Bergeron mainly.) Plus the only defenseman that can shoot is Chara, everyone else can't even hit the damn net! What was really weird was after the game last night I was thinking (or hoping lol) that we'd try and get Guerin back here for Boyes... |

Well the Bruins seem to be waving the white flag after today, two horrible trades how I see it. I thought Mara was pretty good, he played with spirit, defended his teammates when he needed to, and he wasnt that bad of a d man, and Boyes was just in a big slump and was bound to break out of it sooner or later (seemed to the last few games). So as I see it, the Bruins are saying that there is no chance of making the playoffs and are just doing dumb things now for no apparent reason, what a frigin douchbag chirelli is, he cant do anything right.

Signing Bergeron, Savard, and Chara to long term deals was wrong?
Acquiring Bochenski was wrong? Acquiring Ference (who is playing better than B. Stuart) and Acquiring Kobasew who is better then Primeau was wrong? Tossing Mara who was a -22 with 18 points for a Stanley Cup Vet (while similar players, I think Ward will be better for us than Mara was) was wrong? Boyes still baffles me, however, we have so much talent in Providence waiting to be called up, I think this will play out. Boyes was just the odd man out so we moved him. We still have Krejci, Kalus, Karsums in the minors who play a tougher game than Boyes and I think have faster legs. I am not saying I like the two trades from today, however I will let time tell. I won't jump right onto it. The only thing Chia did wrong was hire Dave Lewis (and not have a fighter). Not saying the Boyes deal will be great for us but at the same time, I don't think it makes us a worse team. I will let time tell before I put my seal of approval/disapproval on the whole thing. WTF was Chiarelli doing?
Should've traded Sturm for a conditional 6th round draft pick while he was at it.

I just can't get behind this guy for whatever reason. There are two types of coaches, in my mind. Those who still understand that physicality and fighting have a place in the game and those who don't. Lewis strikes me as the kind of guy who places a HUGE importance on speed over physical play. This is why someone like Brookbank was sent down, even though he played pretty well during his brief stint (a couple of points in limited time) and why we see guys like Mowers*, Tenkrat, Chistov, et al always in the lineup. I'm really surprised that Reich has stayed up as long as he has. But maybe he is coming around. I mean, look at the elite teams in hockey, most of them have a tough guy out there, hitting everything in site, protecting players, getting under the skin of the opponent, energizing the crowd. * I don't get this love affair the B's have with Mowers. I can understand Brickley's constant fawning over him because they are UNH alums, but Mowers hasn't shown me one thing this season. He posseses little to no offensive skills, isn't physical, not fast, marginal skater. I watched this guy play for UNH when I went there and haven't seem him progress past that talent level.
