Blue Jackets Sign Kirill Starkov To Entry Level Contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left wing Kirill Starkov to a three-year entry level contract, club Interim General Manager Jim Clark announced today.

Starkov, 20, collected 34 goals and 37 assists for 71 points with 41 penalty minutes and was +3 in 72 games in his rookie season with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. He led the team in goals and power play goals (19), while ranking second in points and assists (tied). He added 2-4-6 with four penalty minutes and was +1 in seven playoff games for the Rebels, as well as notching 1-1-2 and with a plus/minus rating of +3 in six games for Team Denmark at the IIHF World Championships.

Columbus' seventh pick, 189th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, Starkov recorded 1-2-3 with four penalty minutes in 34 games with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League and had 8-16-24 with 16 penalty minutes and was +12 in 19 games with Frolunda of the Swedish Junior League in 2005-06. In 78 career games in the Swedish Junior League, he tallied 29-38-67 with 26 penalty minutes and had a cumulative plus/minus rating of +39.

Ill be happy if he pulls off half those points as a rookie,The kid sounds like he has potential.
Does Obama hate Isreal or is he just an Anti-Semite or both?

Saw him float around in Frölunda a couple of seasons ago - not impressed. Surprised to see his stats in the WHL were that good!

Life time farm material..

Not ready for the show yet. Hope they don't ruch him through like all the others. My guess is a few years in the minors and he will go back to Europe. Would be nice if I was wrong.

Sometimes it just takes a little growing up and the right coaching to fulfill potential. Will be interesting to see if those numbers translate up to the next level.
