Blue Jackets Recall Tom Sestito From Syracuse

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added left wing Tom Sestito to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced April 6. Sestito is expected to join the club today and be available to make his NHL debut this afternoon when the Blue Jackets host the St. Louis Blues.

Sestito, 20, has collected seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points with 198 penalty minutes and three power play goals in 62 games with Syracuse this season. He is second on the Crunch and tied for 11th in the AHL in penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 209-pound native of Utica, New York, was Columbus’ third pick, 85th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft. Last season playing with Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League, he recorded 42-22-64 with 135 penalty minutes and had a +6 plus/minus rating in 60 games. He led club in goals (13th in OHL) and power play goals (21 – 8th in OHL). He added 11-6-17 and 57 penalty minutes in 19 playoff games as the Whalers advanced to Memorial Cup Tournament. He has registered 53-35-88 and 399 penalty minutes in 152 career OHL games.

The Blue Jackets and Blues face off tonight at 3 p.m. ET.
