Blue Jackets Recall Tom Sestito

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added forward Tom Sestito to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Sestito is expected to join the club prior to tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Sestito, 22, has registered 10 goals and six assists for 16 points and added 138 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Crunch this season, setting a new career high in goals despite missing several weeks due to injury. In three seasons with the Crunch, he has tallied 25-34-59 and 508 penalty minutes in 153 career AHL games.

Columbus’ third pick, 85th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, the Rome, New York native has accumulated 23 penalty minutes in two career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. He collected five penalty minutes vs. Edmonton on November 16 in his lone previous appearance this season. Sestito made his NHL debut on Apr. 6, 2007 and amassed 17 penalty minutes vs. the St. Louis Blues. Prior to turning professional, he spent three seasons with Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers, registering 53-35-88 and 399 penalty minutes in 152 games from 2004-07.

He was plenty healthy the last time they called him up and as much as I like Boll Columbus needs a real heavyweight is the lineup and Sestito is already under contract killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Are you kidding me? Boll is waaay closer to a HW than Sestito is. In fact, Sestito hasn't even fought anything resembling a HW since he had an awful scrap with Godard in preseason 6 months ago.

this statement just shows how truly little you knows about the jackets' prospects. sestito is the furthest thing from a hw for one, secondly he won't fight anyone for the most part unless he gets the jump, third, he is a bitch that runs away when challenged by an actual guy who can fight.

and obviously as well for columbus to call him up, he would have to be under contract with them so quit trying to act like smart cause you have proven not to be.

He is being called up because Columbus only has 4 forwards left under contract in Syracuse to call up. Frischmon, Smotherman, Mayorov and Sestito are all that were left !!!
It's like the AHL went on strike in Syracuse !! Funny thing the kids beat hershey last night

They need to make a deal with Lake Erie then and sign Bordeleau to a 2 way contract because Boll isnt getting the job done.

again you prove your lack of knowledge...there is a reason bordeleau hasn't seen the light of day with an nhl club...he can't play the game that well. if you think he would be better than boll, you're dumber than i thought cause boll can actually play a shift and not look lost doing it or healthy scratched for half the season cause of the reason stated. so get a reality check and learn about the players in columbus' organization and the ahl as well. thanks

This is a game too late or more from my point of view. King and Sestito had a scrap a couple of years ago and Columbus is ****ty again. I would have thought that both Sestito and possibly Mirasty would have gotten a look here although the way the game is now Mirasty getting a look is probably wishful thinking.
