COLUMBUS, OHIO – The
Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Dalton Prout from the
Springfield Falcons, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, and assigned defenseman David Savard to Springfield, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Prout, 22, has tallied four goals and eight assists for 12 points and 52 penalty minutes in 60 games with Springfield this season. The 6-3, 221-pound defenseman was Columbus’ seventh pick, 154th overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft. He spent the past five seasons playing in the Ontario Hockey League with Sarnia, Barrie and Saginaw. He registered 17-49-66 with 436 penalty minutes and a cumulative +16 plus/minus rating in 286 career OHL games. He split the 2010-11 season between Barrie and Saginaw, setting career highs for goals, assists and points with 9-22-31 and 99 penalty minutes in 52 games.
Savard has tallied 2-8-10 and 16 penalty minutes with an “even” plus/minus rating in 31 games with the Blue Jackets in 2011-12. Columbus’ third pick, 94th overall, in the 2009 Entry Draft, he has also picked up 3-13-16 and 55 penalty minutes in 37 games with Springfield.
