Blue Jackets Re-Sign Nick Holden to Two-Way Contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Nick Holden to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced tonight. Holden will earn $550,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.

Holden, 26, registered three goals and six assists for nine points and 14 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Springfield Falcons, Columbus’ AHL affiliate, in 2011-12. He missed the majority of the season due to injury. In 2010-11, he appeared in five games with the Blue Jackets and notched 4-21-25, 63 penalty minutes and was +2 in 67 games with Springfield. He set career highs in points and penalty minutes, while ranking second among Falcons defensemen in points.

A native of St. Alberta, Alberta, Holden has collected 17-62-79 and 175 penalty minutes in 222 career AHL games with Springfield and Syracuse from 2008-012. Prior to his professional career, he tallied 30-61-91 and 116 penalty minutes and 137 games with the Western Hockey League’s Chilliwack Bruins.
