Blue Jackets' Derek Dorsett Out for Season with Broken Clavicle
COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets today announced that right wing Derek Dorsett has been placed on Injured Reserve. Dorsett suffered a fractured clavicle in the first period of last night’s home game vs. Vancouver and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
A native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dorsett has recorded 27-38-65 in 280 career NHL games, all with Columbus. The Blue Jackets’ ninth pick, 189th overall, at the 2006 NHL Draft, he has tallied 3-6-9 and 53 penalty minutes in 24 appearances this season. He currently leads the team with 55 hits and ranks fifth in points. Last season, Dorsett led the NHL in penalty minutes with 235 and set career highs in goals (12), points (20), shots (137) and games played (77). The 6-0, 192-pound forward ranks third all-time on the Blue Jackets in penalty minutes (727) and 15th in games played.
