Blue Jackets' Brandon Dubinsky to Have Disciplinary Hearing
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky has a hearing with the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday afternoon.
The hearing is in regard to a five-minute major penalty for boarding assessed to Dubinsky at 11:29 of the second period for a hit on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Rob Scuderi during the Kings 4-2 victory during a game Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena. |

Two things Dubinsky needs to be smarter (think its his second questionable hit from behind). Scuderi needs to protect himself better.
Personally I don't think the hit should warrant a suspension because I don't think the hit was from behind. It appeared it was from the side and he did let up. Just my opinion. It's a fine line but players also need to protect themselves. |

Since its Dubinsky I'm guessing he'll get something. You guys are right about Scuderi not leaving himself vulnerable but at the same time Dubi has gotta be smarter. Did'nt drill him like he could have but still had lots of time not to hit him at all. Right or wrong the league calls this stuff now and they both should know better.

The way Scuderi's head went off the glass is just like what Kaleta's head did. Similar play all the away around and I'm guessing the player wasn't seriously injured on the play? If Shanny had any consistency there should be no suspension. However, because there's a hearing, Dubinsky will probably get 3 games.

From what I saw last night, it definitely looked like Dubinsky thrust himself into Scuderi as soon as Scuderi turned, instead of just riding him into the boards like he should do. It was a dirty hit.

You can blame Mayers for looking backwards as he is skating forwards, but you can not blame Scuderi here. You sometimes have to play the puck on the boards that way. There is just no other way to control the puck but to have your back to the player bearing down on you. Players have to learn to lay off,or be the target of suspensions. Yes,I know its hockey, and this post will be ridiculed, but in this day and age, this is simply how it is. Either learn to comply,or be suspended.
