Blue Jackets Activate Dorsett Off IR

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Derek Dorsett off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Dorsett, who has missed the past nine games, is expected to be in the lineup for tonight's game vs. the San Jose Sharks.

Dorsett, 21, has registered one goal and one assist for two points and 63 penalty minutes, which ranks second on the club, in 12 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has also tallied 1-5-6 and 35 penalty minutes in seven games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Dorsett was Columbus' ninth pick, 189th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft. He spent the 2007-08 season with Syracuse, collecting 10-8-18, 289 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in 64 games. He led the Crunch and ranked third in the AHL in penalty minutes. In three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League, the Kindersley, Saskatchewan native registered 49-79-128 and 593 penalty minutes with a cumulative plus/minus rating of +42 in 180 games from 2004-07.

It's a shame he got injured and had to miss some time. If he stays healthy for the rest of the season you can mark him down for 200+ PIMs. Book it.
