the leclaire injury caused them to snatch up dubie in the first place, so imo this doesn't make much of an impact on the back-up situation. as someone else said lacosta is ok as well, but columbus would prefer him to make the playoff run with the crunch if they get in.

The guy who went 4-6-2, with a bum knee, is going to fix Ottawa's goaltending? Why does every goalie deal in this town have to suck ass?

I'm not a big math guy, but I'm pretty sure three third string goalies does not equal one first stringer. Pascal Leclaire is another ****ing liability for a team that doesn't need any more.

100% agree. I am sick to death of these gash, "could be a solid starting NM "if he wasn't injured", "didn't have a bad attitude", "he's just a bit inconsistent", "he has be known to shown signs of brilliance that one time in" etc. etc. goalies we sign. This one is no different, one decentish season with Columbus before starting like a crock of **** this year and then his knee.

Although we did manage to get rid of Vermette who does a lot of looking good skating wise and on the PK but not much else.

Someone said on here he'll provide CBJ with scoring depth, the exact thing critics have been panning the Sens for season after season, which has failed to come from players just like Vermette.

I'm starting to get pissed with Bryan Murray.

No way! You're gonna love this, fatty Leclaire wasn't even doing anything, and when he was healthy, I think Norena had the job anyways.

You're gonna like Vermette, it's like getting something for nothing. Trust

The Blue Jackets are believed to be in the market for a depth goaltender. Don't expect a big name. It'll almost certainly be a player acquired for a late-round draft pick or a mid-level prospect.

With any luck there is still a chance they will send that scab back to NYI!

I think that you might be surprised with Leclaire. I believe he is a first stringer and unfortunately we have to wait until next year to find out.

I think this is a solid trade for both teams. The Blue Jackets could use the offensive depth while trying to secure their first playoff birth, and they didn't have to give up anything off their current roster. They had a crowded crease situation, so Leclaire was expendable, and I think despite his poor start this year, Leclaire is a better option in net than Ottawa has had in a while. He should be a #1 guy for them, even if he's not in all-star form.

Sorry mods, I know I just started a thread about this deal, good idea for moderating lol. Yeah I think both teams did good here, especially Ottawa.

If Leclaire can play like he did last year, he'll be great for Ottawa.

mixed emotions about this right now.
LeCosta will hopefully be ready if required.
I really thought that Connolly would be the announcement , he resigned w/ the Buff.

If Emery can play like he did two years ago, he'd be in the NHL.

If Lalime can play like he did '03, Buffalo would be in the playoffs.

If Gerber can play...goalie, Toronto might win a game, lol.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but it seems like Ottawa's been using the "wait and see" approach with its goalies for 15 years. I as a fan want to see a bonafide asset in the nets, not some guy who might possibly sorta be a halfway decent starter, if his ankles hold up.

The closest they came to a good deal was the year with Hasek, but even that backfired.

Oh well, at least Gerber is someone else's problem now. 11-2 Ottawa over Toronto @ Scotiabank place next week.

Good deal. We traded away a damn good goalie who however is decidedly un-clutch, and we got Vermette in return, an up-and-coming guy.

TSN likes this deal? Well Ottawa gets another goalie, and this one actually has the ability to grab the starting job when he comes back from his injury. Gerber and the other dude y'all have up there are definitely not starter material over a long season, and Pascal has shown that when injury free he can do that.

As chilly and tyler already said, we've got Dubie and LaCosta as our backups and I'm pretty confident in both of them backing up Super Steve.

And to those who are asking about norrena, he's in russia and good riddance to that european sieve.
