Blue Jackets Acquire Michael Blunden
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that they have acquired right wing Michael Blunden from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for right wing Adam Pineault. Blunden has been assigned to the Syracuse Crunch.
Blunden, 22, has appeared in 37 games with the Rockford IceHogs this season, tallying three goals, seven assists and 42 penalty minutes. In parts of four seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Blunden has skated in 139 AHL games with Norfolk and Rockford, collecting 24 goals, 38 assists and 142 penalty minutes. In addition, he has appeared in 10 games with Chicago, recording 10 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 207 lb. native of Toronto, Ontario, was drafted by Chicago in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. |

Blunden sat in the AHL and really never progressed into the player the team expected him to be. Seems to me like an even swap for players who may never come into their own. Pineaut does have a respectable fight card though.
