Blackhawks Re-Sign Hendry, Add Free Agent Hambly
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have re-signed defenseman Jordan Hendry to a two-year contract and signed free agent defenseman Tim Hambly of the Quad City Flames in the American Hockey League (AHL) to a one-year deal.
Originally signed by Chicago as a free agent on July 17, 2006, the 24-year old Hendry (6-0, 196) spent the end of the 2005-06 season and all of the 2006-07 campaign with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League before he appeared in 40 games with the Blackhawks last season. During his rookie year in the NHL, Hendry played in 40 games and tabbed four points off one goal and three assists. Prior to his stint with the Admirals, Hendry played four collegiate seasons with Alaska-Fairbanks in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Hambly (6-0, 190), 24, appeared in 72 games scoring four goals and 26 assists for 30 points and 40 penalty minutes for the Quad City Flames of the AHL last season. A native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, he spent four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (2001-05) appearing in 141 games while scoring 13 goals and 47 assists for 60 points and 132 penalty minutes. After concluding his college career he has played for Las Vegas of the ECHL and Iowa, Omaha and Quad City of the AHL. Hambly’s AHL career saw him play in 186 games when he scored eight goals and 57 assists for 65 points and 105 penalty minutes.

If they didn't give him a two-way, the Hawks would have to pay him on his one way contract a league minimum of $450k, I think. With the two-way deal, $450k can go down to $45k while playing in the minors, depending on the % they agree on... so why shouldn't they give him a two-way deal?

go to the scrubs thread if you want to make jacka$$ comments like that.
TNG - ive watched hambly the past two years and well imo he didnt play well enough to deserve a two-way deal. maybe a straight one-way to rockford, and then if he did a good enough job, then give him a two-way deal
