Blackhawks Ink Daniel Carcillo to Two-Year Deal

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with forward Daniel Carcillo (kar-SIHL-oh) on a two-year contract extension.

Carcillo, 26, recorded 11 points (2G, 9A), 82 penalty minutes and a +10 plus/minus rating in 28 regular-season tilts this year, his first season with the Blackhawks after signing with the organization as a free agent in July of 2011.

Originally selected in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Carcillo has registered 84 points (38G, 46A) and 1,068 penalty minutes in 310 regular-season tilts over parts of five National Hockey League seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes (2006-09), Philadelphia Flyers (2009-11) and Blackhawks. The King City, Ontario, native has also notched five goals, six assists and 69 penalty minutes in 33 career Stanley Cup Playoffs tilts, which includes a run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Final with the Flyers.

A lot of us Hawk fans were wondering what they would do with him once he gets healthy... Glad they want to keep him around. He provides some much needed anger to a sometimes lazy Hawks team.

I like this. He brought a lot of energy when he was in the lineup. Hell, the guy is still #5 on the team in hits and he played 28 f*cking games. His physicality is something this team desperately needs.

If the hawks are smart, they'll re-sign mayers too for one good, gritty 4th line with bollig and carcillo.

Good move.

I also think if toews didn't have his concussion from being roughed up by the sharks, this may not have happened

Great move by Bowman here to ink Carzilla and his mustache. Carcillo brought a lot of much needed energy and grit that all the players could feed off of. He plays like a man possessed and is never one to back down. Carbomb, Mayers and Bollig would be a solid fourth line, one nobody would want to mess with.

Good stuff. The team has missed the energy and grit that he brings.

Great signing he'll be on the third or fourth line next year. This could spell the end for Beach though. Will have Beach for one more year and i hope he spends sometime up he'd be better than Frolik, Bickell and Stahlberg

you want beach on the hawks? wow you're a fool.

he can't even prove he can play in the ahl yet or stay healthy...beach is a complete and utter bust.

i hope some other team takes him in a trade...ill take a bag of used pucks for him just to get him out of here

I'm glad Carcillo is liked again.

Ever since he left the Coyotes can't say I've been a fan of his. He lost that fire and killer instinct, we can only hope returns to his old self.

I find that a pretty crazy stat, definitely shows the energy he brings.

Dan Carcillo had a good start to his blackhawks career, wasnt he on the second or third line for the most part? Such a shame he got injured.

He also spent time on the First line w/ Kane and Toews.
