Blackhawks Don't Qualify Jake Dowell

Quote:
The Chicago Blackhawks decided not to "qualify" center Jake Dowell making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1, according to his agent Neil Sheehy.

Qualifying offers were due at 4 p.m. CT Monday and Dowell is the lone Hawks' restricted free agent not to be qualified.

Jesus... is John Scott the only tough/physical player left in Chicago?

Ryan Johnson still there?

Damn he was like the only physically entertaining player besides the always scratched John Scott. They should be the team to get Konopka or even Carcillo at this point. I know Anaheim, Edmonton and Philly will be looking to get Konopka though.

Give the guy his measly 10%. He's a great fourth liner, decent penalty killer and had as many fights as Scott. He deserves a roster spot.

Maybe they are confident on getting Konopka. I'd still sign Dowell, he's cheap, has heart, and does a good job.

I know this is a business, but feels like a rotten thing to do to the guy, esp after reading the article in the Hockey News and his family history with Huntington's Disease. Kind of a hit to the Hawks PR department. Not like it would have been a lot of $$$ to qualify him...

I'm sure he'll find a new home after July 1 - he'd be a good fit on anyone's fourth line.

Okay, this is getting ri-goddamn-diculous now. We have no physicality whatsoever because we all know Quenneville refuses to dress John Scott. Did the Hawks learn anything from the Vancouver series? Bowman better have something up his sleeve come July 1st.
