Blackhawks Assign Koci to Rockford; Recall St. Pierre

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forward David Koci to Rockford in the AHL and recalled forward Martin St. Pierre.

Koci appeared in 18 games for the Blackhawks this season and did not score while posting 68 penalty minutes.

Koci was sidelined for 10 games with a broken nose suffered in a game against Boston back on October 25th. He has been a healthy scratch for 15 of the last 18 games.

In 43 games at Rockford this season, St. Pierre was the IceHogs leading scorer with 16 goals and 46 assists for 62 points. Eight of his goals were on the power play and he had a +8 rating.

St. Pierre participated in last night’s American Hockey league All-Star game scoring a goal and adding two assists as the Canadian All-Stars defeated the PlanetUSA All-Stars by the score of 9-8.

St. Pierre was recalled earlier this season and has appeared in one game for the Blackhawks and did not score. He will join the team in time for tomorrow night’s game against the Avalanche at Colorado.

In the press release that had him resign with the Hawks before this year, it didnt give any indication if it was a 1 or 2 way.

Still dont know.

In any event, there goes my #1 pick - down the ****ter.

I guess with Eager healthy now, Savard didnt want to play both he and Koci. Very disappointing, I was looking forward to seeing both these guys on the 4th line, they would have made a nice 1-2 punch. Maybe not the toughest guys in the league, but two of the more willing scrappers.

Heads up Kane and Toews, opponents who take runs at you have no one to answer to. Ask Savard about his days with Secord and Behn Wilson guarding him. The Hawks need help in the toughness department!!

Oh I'm talking about a REAL fight. Not a hugging match involving Richmond & Fraser. Gavin Morgan has added a little excitement but he is a middleweight. Koci will come in and make a good impact on the team. Rockford is already a good team but Koci to enforce will give them a edge.

Eager and Wizniewski will be around. Granted not the toughest guys in the world but more than willing and will keep people honest. If someone takes a run at either one of those guys, you can almost guarantee that Eager will take a run at the other teams skilled players.

I like the guys you mentioned but opponents will not think twice about running the Hawks skill players because of them. They need someone who their opponents have in the back of their minds may come after them if they decide to take runs at Kane,Toews, etc. Shelley would have been a nice pick-up. The Hawks have too much invested in their young guys not to protect them. ( See Crosby-Laraque; Ovechkin-Brashear) Savard ripped into his team before the break and told them " Commit to the Indian" and then he sends down the one player who defends his teamates and at least shows some passion on the ice. Colorado just smoked the Hawks 6-3. Put a fork in them!!!
