Avs Recall Durno; Place Laperriere on IR
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled forward Chris Durno from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Durno, 28, was previously recalled by the Avalanche on Dec. 30 but did not appear in a game before being reassigned to Lake Erie on Jan. 1. The Scarborough, Ontario native leads the Monsters in scoring with 23 points (10g/13a) in 39 games played. He also leads the team in goals and assists. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound forward was signed by the Avalanche as a free agent on July 3, 2008. In addition, the Avalanche also announced today that the club has placed forward Ian Laperriere on the Injured Reserve list (retroactive to Jan. 4) due to a back injury.

Actually the Avs don't have much toughness at all, so losing Lappy will hurt them. He's not dominant, but he can still stir things up on the ice and is always a willing combatant to drop the mitts. The Avs could use him in their lineup so hopefully he recovers quickly.
