Not surprised; nor do I think anyone will consider picking him up.

What a waste.

Wow, that's tragic. Keeping guys like Laaksonen and Rycroft instead of McCormick is sad.

I wonder what it was that didn't pan out for this guy. He brings grit and can bring that rare level of agitation to the game. Too bad!

Eh, I would have to disagree with you there. Laaksy is a good PK man, and a solid defensive forward for Colorado. On the otherhand, Rycroft is a wasted spot on the 4th line, and hardly deserves to be playing in the league, regardless of which NHL era this is.

Keep in mind I've probably only seen 2-3 of the Avs' games this season....

I remember reading some place that if a player makes over a certain amount you he has to be put on waivers before he can be assigned to their minor league team.

Well, Colorado doesn't really have any toughness at all anymore. They dumped Parros, and now they dumped McCormick. Now all they have is Lappy, and he certainly CANNOT handle the fighting duties all by himself. He's just not a very big guy and he isn't a great fighter either, so if he is their top fighter, then I wouldn't be surprised to see opposing teams taking runs at the Avalanche's star players... they just don't have the toughness anymore.

Hopefully someone picks him up though. He's a chippy player, and teams looking for some toughness could use him. I know there are a lot of teams out there with a need for a tough player. Teams like Detroit and Dallas have already been said, and even a few teams in the Eastern Conference.

Its hard to be toughest dog on the block when the GM keeps pulling all your teeth!
