Arron Asham Suspended Four Games, James Neal One
New York - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Arron Asham has been suspended for four games for cross-checking Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn during Game 3 of the teams’ Eastern Conference Quarterfinal playoff series Sunday in Philadelphia, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 14:15 of the first period. Asham was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure.

Penguins forward James Neal has also been suspended for one game for charging Flyers forward Claude Giroux during the same game. That incident occurred at 15:18 of the third period. Neal was assessed a minor penalty for charging and a game misconduct.

Jesus. I hate saying this but the NHL is embarrassing itself. Since they cannot do an adequate job of policing the league consistently then for the sake of the game...let the players do it.

About what I expected. If it were up to me, I would fine Neal $5,000/no suspension and tell him I understand the playoffs are nasty and emotiona,l but he was trying to end guys seasons and give Asham 2 games....

i think they basically gave asham 4 games so he wouldnt appear again in this series. Not too many people happy bout all the craziness thats been goin on during the first round of playoffs lol

Well, Neal got one game, so he won't be appearing the rest of the series either...

I don't really get the Neal suspension, was it for the 1st hit or the 2nd? They said on TSN "for both of them" but wtf does that mean?

Asham was deserving of whatever he got... honestly if you can't accept a clean hit IN THE PLAYOFFS FOR **** SAKES then **** you, you don't deserve to play anyways. Asham is 10 times tougher than Schenn, he could have Carkner'd him and gotten 1 game and done a lot more damage, but no instead he decided to use his stick to Schenn's face. So **** him

I like competitive hockey and hard hitting hockey. This bull**** belongs in the ECHL or some beer league.

Many seem to think Asham is toast as a Pen.

Seems about what I thought would be handed down.Actually was spot on with Asham.Though I thought Neal would get a fine considering no one was hurt.I mean that is a part of the disciplinary protocol...But I'm fine with what they got.They both deserve it for being stupid...

IMO Neal got off easy (in the world of suspensions).
I like big hits, but he targeted two separate guys here with only one thing in mind.

Figured Asham would have gotten two not four but not too surprised.
Neal deserved more then one with his antics but was hoping he wouldn't
get anything so someone could light his ass up. Wishfull thinking but
it would be great if Shelley dressed if we see Neal again just to beat
the snot out of him,no talking or gestures. Just skate over to him gloves
flying off and go to town. Who cares if he were to get tossed or susp.
Neal will get his,maybe not this year but it's coming sometime down the road.

No Neal, No Asham, No Flyers hurt = No Fights and No Shelley. This game should be quiet.
