Andrew Ference Suspended One Game for Illegal Check to Head

NEW YORK -- Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference has been suspended for one game for an illegal check to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski during Game One of the teams' Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series in Boston on Wednesday, May 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 10:03 of the first period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

This makes me P/O. Don't get me wrong if Ference did hit in the head I'm fine with a 1 game but what about Komarov who went for a pop shot at Kelly after the game was over. No real actions taken on that?!? Yes I am bias towards my Bruins but I also want this to be fair not a target at them.

I have no problem with the suspension.It was a clear hit to the head.The problem I have is that one guy is going into the corner looking for contact/expecting it..And one is going into the corner and hitting is the farthest thing from his mind.Grabovski had zero intention of going in hard,making a hit, therefore left himself unprotected...If he goes and tries to hit Ference shoulder to shoulder instead of reaching for a 50/50 puck..this is a non issue...

Seems fair. I didn't really care if he got suspended or not but I'm glad it's not something outrageous like half the series. 1 game is fair, it's enough to draw a line between what's acceptable and what's not, it was a pretty dangerous hit
