Andrew Ference Hurt

Just reported on NESN that Andrew Ference is going to be out 6-8 weeks with a broken tibia. It happend at the end of the 2nd period when he blocked a shot. He is scheduled to have a pin put in leg on monday.

I think he has been the best defensemen this year for the Bruins. I will post a link when it hits the 'net.

Sucks to lose the 9th best defensive defenseman in the NHL but I am confident Hunwick will do well.

I'd rather see Boychuk up, he's been playing well offensively, defensively, and he's physical and not afraid to drop them. Lashoff's development has stalled.

What a shame about Ference! He was off to an excellent start and now, even when he comes back, who knows if he'll be 100% and be able to pick up where he left off this season. This is however a great opportunity for one of our young d-men. Hopefully, one of them (Lashoff, Hunwick, or Boychuk) will step in and prove himself an NHL caliber defenseman.

Coach said they will not call up a 7th defenceman from Providence because he doesnt want them to sit in the stands every nite, he wants them to play.

Still think trading away Ference (and Kobasew) was one the worst deals Sutter and the Flamers ever made. Very underrated little d-man with some moxy - and great to see he took off the visor! Anyhow - tough loss for the Bruins. Hope he makes a full and fast recovery.
