Anaheim Acquires Rullier From Vancouver for Genoway

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Joe Rullier from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for right wing Colby Genoway. Rullier will report directly to Portland, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Rullier, 26 (1/28/80), has played in 24 games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) this season, scoring 2-6=8 points with 62 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-3, 230-pound defenseman split the 2005-06 season between Hartford (AHL) and Manchester (AHL), scoring 8-23=31 points with 160 PIM in 67 games played. He set professional single-season career highs in goals, assists and points.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Rullier has played in 422 career AHL games, scoring 20-63=83 points with 1,191 PIM. In 29 career Calder Cup playoff games, he has collected 0-6=6 points with 54 PIM. He was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Genoway, 23 (12/12/83), recorded 8-21=29 points in 41 games with Portland (AHL) this season. He was signed by the Ducks as a free agent on July 11, 2006.

Only one fight for him in Manitoba, but he has gone with all of the heaveweights recent years in AHL.
Does anyone know Anaheims plan for him, is it to stay down in AHL or perhaps be in the big league now when they have d-man injuries?

godamn you Ducks! good move by Burke. who knows, maybe they want Rullier to compete with Jacman for a spot while they have injuries.

I want the Ducks to win the Cup.

Bettman will piss himself if Parros and company lift the Cup.

always liked rullier. i watched him play for manchester. he had decent #'s. during the lock out for a while he was leading the league in +/- and was like 3rd in PIM's and that was toward the mid to late season, so it wasn't a fluke.
i never understood why he wasn't given much chance at the NHL level.

anaheim is in a league of their own.i never payed them much mind, but i guess i'll start following them since the flyers tore my heart out of my chest and wizzed on it.

It's nice to see another heavy to help out Gillies. Don't get me wrong I like Konopka, Ferguson and the others. Konopka shouldn't have to keep dropping the gloves with guys like Hoffman. Ferguson is willing, but against legit heavy's I think he could be in trouble.
