Aaron Rome Suspended Four Games for Hit on Nathan Horton
BOSTON - Vancouver Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome has been suspended for four games for delivering a late hit to Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton in Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final, the National Hockey League announced today.
"Two factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Mike Murphy. "The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury." Rome was assessed a five-minute major penalty for interference and game misconduct at 5:07 of the first period. Rome will miss the remainder of the Stanley Cup Final series. In the event that the Final ends before Game 7, the suspension will carry over to the start of the 2011-12 regular season. |
**** is about to hit the fan.......

Bull****!
Wow, seriously? That is the most ridiculous over reaction since Boulerice got 25 games.
What a fuking joke.
WOW! four games?! i EXPECTED (not wanted) two, but i didn't see this coming. crazy.
They should have just left him in there. No suspension.
Are you kidding me?... Somehow i expected it from this joke of a league.
im just glad that shanahan is taking over next yr, im sure he will know wat the hell to do haha. cuz clearly campbell does not
its just too bad it wasnt one of vancouvers better players.
They finally got one right.

Not surpised - had to know this was coming.
And it makes sense - the Bruins are saying Horton will be out for the rest of the series, so now Rome will be out for the rest of the series. NHL did the math right on this one and did what they thought was best. Don't think this should be labelled as a blindside hit though - Rome was suspended because of the severity of Horton's injury and the fact it was a pretty late check on a play where Rome probably should have recognized the vulnerability and let up a little. And, maybe the NHL is making up for not suspending Burrows too, as well as tone tempers down a little. Rome will be missed, he's a warrior and had a good playoff. Now its time for Ballard to step up and earn that 4 mil paycheck. All the best to Horton and his recovery as well. |
Pretty late and vicious hit. Not sure I disagree with it. The only thing I disagree with is this little nugget:

I am not sure how to comment on this being that i like the tuff stuff in Hockey even though i am a Bruin fan, Bottom line is Horton out is a bigger difference than Rome's. Advantage Canucks.

4 games is a complete joke, 4 minutes would be a complete joke. I guess Murphy came on here this morning and read all of the whining posted by the faires crying for a suspension and figuered its what Bettman's Babies wanted. Boston vag milbury will probably have a party, yeah, let's have a NHL Pussification Party. woohoo
