Nhl

I've tried to watch each game this season and I just cannot do it, haven't made it through a period yet. Am I alone? Since 2001 I have not been able to get into it which is sad cause I was as die hard as they come. My friends would think I was f*cked cause I'd stay in on a fri night to watch the game. Now I can't stand it, it bores me. I did watch the B's in the playoffs last year and I almost thought I could get back into it this year but the new NHL STILL SUCKS! My question is how does everyone still watch? I'd love to know your secret.

Had some luck and caught quite a lot of scraps so far this season which have been nice but the majority of the games are awful.

Move to Canada.

Hockey is my religion, and a way of life in Canada. My whole life I've centered and based my time around watching, playing, talking hockey. I will follow it, and my Canucks, for the rest of my days, no matter what. Its just the passion that I have for it. It will never ever end for me.

But its also all I have. I don't have the luxury of saying "Fvck the Bruins! I'm going to watch the Pats, Sox, or Celtics!" I can't say "Screw the Rangers! Time to spend my time with the Yankees, Giants, or Knicks!" Most Canadian cities, with pretty much the lone exception of Toronto, are a one team, one league sporting market. There's really only one source to turn to for our sporting needs, and thats hockey, and your favorite NHL, junior, or minor hockey team.

Sure, there's CFL football - but really, its a poor substitute and really only serves as a summer distraction.

Its pretty much the only thing, that as Canadians, we have, and that we're good at. I will continue to watch it night in and night out and cheer for my fave team because its all I know, its what I've known my entire life, and its the only sport I have a passion for. And I guarantee you 9/10 Canadians will say the exact same thing. So no matter what, for better for worse, I will be there watching and cheering - its a marriage, that as a Canadian, will never be broken.

Sorry for the rant - but to me, thats just the way it is.

Amen, Calgary friend.

You can't escape hockey here. There is no "turning off" the game.

A few rule changes aren't going to make the game boring, so if you were in it for the sheer violence in the first place then you aren't a true fan. Hockey is still hockey, coming from someone who plays it old school.

PPV television and the internet have a load of violent programming, if you're that interested.

Hockeyfights.com and FC were created for fans of hockey fighting, goons, rough stuff, mayhem, body checking, ect. But because some of you probably googled something related to hockey and fighting, you're now members and think this site is strictly for hockey die hards, well you're wrong.

Because as a canadian it's bred in me, and it's Hockey....and it beats any other sport going out there.
And it isnt like fighting has stopped. At least its still the ONLY sport that allows it, unlike those other lame sports, like ****in baseball....how anyone can watch such a slow, unexciting game and then even think hockey cant be watched boggles my mind.

Nope, I actually punched in "hockeyfights.com" in the URL bar in July 2005 and fortunately came across this site.

I love rough stuff. I don't love a game that would sacrifice its integrity as a game of speed for violence.

Nascar isn't even a sport. And soccer is a great game, if you knew more about it.

On that particular day every July we remember what a proud site this once were.
With all the rule changes that has raped the NHL for a long time is there any integrity left?
At hfboards.com they also have a politics section but they got something we don't as well: A section about Alberta only with threads regarding religion, lumberjacking and economy. Give it a try!

You mean there's lumberjacking in Alberta?

And we also remember what made it that much better!

Absolutely. You can't find an empty seat at Rexall Place on any given night of an Oilers game. If they said that from now on all teams had to wear pink tutus to play, the sellout crowds would stay.

This is the case all across Canada and in some American cities.

I don't know if that is serious or a joke. But, yes.

Except we don't wear the queer "lumber jackets" that the Scandinavians do and we bathe here.

Not enough Heavyweight battles for my taste lately. I'm starting to lose interest.

And Flames, we don't wear lumberjackets. We still have some pride and self-preservation left.

New NHL Gripes!

Stop the parallel stick crap. It only serves to help the refs by taking away any judgement they may exercise. Call more dives! Can ya hear me Sid??? Same with the goalies~ anyone near them they go down like they were shot.
