Would it surprise you if I told you love watching hockey without fighting?

Is there more cheapshots and bad injuries during the Olympics, World Juniors or University level hockey? I'd like to see those stats. You might say that they are more boring because of the lack of fighting, but you still watch and enjoy it, don't you? Would you be against the idea of seeing what hockey is like without fighting and seeing if more cheapshots arise because of the lack of fighting? Wouldn't that be an ideal way to test the argument?

Yeah Football's a really quick sport, wait a second no it's not, they stop between almost every play while the clock is running, there is virtually no dead time between whistles in hockey .

So you're coming at it from the position that fighters are needed to police the game because referees and the governing body can't do it themselves. Would I be wrong to assume that?

Yeah, What he said, he's a hockey expert and should probabaly be coaching as far I'm concerned, he's been watching the game his whole life and never played a minute of it.

I dont know what you're trying to accomplish with this thread. Wanting to start discussion is one thing but you dont seem very willing to hear many of the pro-fighting arguments. Youre not going to convert anyone and obviously a topic like this is going to make people sensitive on here so dont be suprised when you get chirped. If you want to discuss how fighting is irrelevant go to hfboards or something like that.

And also I dont know about youre whole Waterloo hockey thing but I have friends who play university hockey and even if youre not dressed or injured you have to be at the game doing stats and stuff like that. Unless theyre in hospital or have the swine they have to be at the rink. Good luck with converting the heathens though.

Any you're right about Cherry's position not really mattering, in the end, for you and other members. All I wanted to point out was that my position isn't anything that "out there" when it comes to hockey players, coach's, or anyone related to hockey.

Bull****. Cherry may say that, but then why the hell did he have John Wensink, Stan Johnathan, etc. on his teams?

Wayne Gretzky has said similar things, and yet he always had Dave Semenko and Marty McSorely riding shotgun, and it wasn't until after he was off the ice that he made these comments.

Pretty much proof that you can sit in a pressbox or on your couch at home and say these things, but when you're on the ice, playing the game, it's a different story. End of discussion. Assuming that's all you were here for, you can go ahead and leave now.

If fighting were removed I would not care ab out the NHL as much, it's unique to hockey and most men like fighting........why alienate your core base?
