Burke set the bar. I go by the bar HE set. If he kept his yap shut, made no big claims, then nobody would expect much of the leafs.

All of which I clarified with my original post on why the leafs failed. Using Burke's own statements, and what was accomplished, Toronto is a FAIL.

If you had half a brain, you'd know that the Leafs would have had to give up Schenn to get Tavares, and I think majority of leaf fans didn't want Schenn gone. IMO Tavares shouldn't have gone first, the dude has no defensive talent and only plays one the offensive zone, sure he scores alot, but i donno. I'd much rather a solid defensemen and future Captain of the leafs then some dude who scores alot but doesn't do anything in the defensive zone.
And about him getting on the plane to go see the Sedins, you're wrong, he went to Swedin to talk to Gutavvason (no idea how to spell it).
And the whole tampering ****, give me a break. Its completely retarded that people can't say they want to sign someone.
So before you go sprouting FAIL to everything like a ****ing moron, look at what they would have had to give up to get those players, it's not worth it.

I don't give a rats ass what the Leafs may or may not have had to give up.

Again, BURKE made the statements. He declared over and over what he was going to do. By his own statements, he failed miserably. He didn't accomplish 1/3 of what he was trying to do.

If he kept his mouth shut, nobody could fault him. He had a tough situation and did well with what he had.

But because he made big promises, and didn't do 1/3 of them, he failed.

You keep believing he went to Sweden, the morning of free agency, leaving the night before, to talk to Gustavsson. Ya. Makes perfect sense. Keep believing that one., espcially after the comments made on national radio that their intentions were to sign the twins.

So once you stop defending Burke or the Leafs, and realize that my view has been based on what Burke PROMISED compared to what he DELIVERED, it is a fail.

I'd consider the Flyers to be inbetween the Winners, and the Losers. The trade for Pronger made them more Cup ready but the gaining of Pronger caused them to lose a portion of their future. The other two signings were only situational signings, and don't really mean much.
