Why? People aren't allowed to comment on other teams?

What I meant was instead of people saying who was the winners or losers, they ended up saying how their team did at free agency.(see clydefrog)

The Wild I thought did very good.

Montreal I felt were the losers. They lost Komi and Boullion and went on to downgrade to Gill and Spacek. They also didn't fix their size issued. Gomez trade was awful too.

Its cool you feel your team is doing well. But the Islanders, Red Wings, Ducks etc. haven't been very active either and you went ahead to label your team the winners. You see where I heading at now?

And yes whatever you say around here is wrong.

Winners:
Toronto- they didnt add the scoring they desperately need but they acquired two very tough and solid defensemen in komisarek and exelby while unloading the expensive kubina. they also signed an exciting enforcer in orr. all in all they should be tougher and much more fun to watch than last year.

Rangers- I know many will disagree but the Rangers essentially replaced gomez with gaborik, higgins, and a terrific prospect in ryan mcdonagh. they also signed probably the most intimidating player in the nhl. it remains to be seen if gaborik can stay healthy but he is making what gomez was making and that is a trade i make any day of the week.

Minnesota- I really like what the Wild did. they weren't goign to resign gaborik so they replaced him with a similar player in havlat. they also shored up their defense with the gritty veteran hnidy and the underrated greg zanon. if they can get koivu they will be a formidable team in the west.

Blackhawks- Added Hossa for a great 5 million dollar cap hit. Not much to complain about. he is a better option than havlat. they also added a great defensive center and pking specialist in John Madden.

Losers
Canadiens- As a Canadiens fan you cannot be happy. The Gomez trade was a head scratcher as they included their top prospect in the deal as well as a proven scorer in Higgins. They then took two of the smaller free agent forwards in Gionta and Cammalleri. The first line of Gionta Gomez and Cammalleri will be the smallest in the nhl. However perhaps more puzzling was their signings of spacek and gill. spacek is a fat overrated slob whos as soft as they come and a sh*tshow defensively. Gill is soft for a big man and is a very weak skater. They are replacing komisarek with these two and replacing koivu tanguay and kovalev wiht gionta gomez and cammalleri. i dont like it.

Devils- Lose Gionta, Clemmensen, and Madden and have so far replaced them with nothing.

Detroit- Pick up no toughness and lose hossa.

How dare you mention the Rangers in your post?! Don't you know that you can't include your team as free agent winner according to WildyCoyote, Thread Policeman.

Disagree completely. What did they lose in Clemmensen? He's not a good backup. He's shown that. He has to be a starter to be successful. When it came to playing a couple times every 25 games, he wasn't good. Weekes is a better backup. Losing Madden, again not a huge loss. He's 35, trying to match him against top players wasn't working anymore, witness the Carolina series, he needed to move on and Dainius Zubrus can take his lack of production and be the 3rd line center. Gionta may be the only real miss if it turns out Nicklas Bergfors or Matt Halischuk aren't as ready for the NHL as they seem.

Absolutely. The Bill Guerin and Tank resignings were huge. Craig Adams? Eh, PsuNate will be happy (he loves that dude for some reason). Getting Michael Rupp was great - you can never have enough toughness. Losing Rob Scuderi blows but what can you do? He obviously didn't get Ryan Malone's text messages. Hal Gill? I liked him but replacing him won't be a problem.

If they keep Godard around I'll give them an A+.

I see where your going, I get it, just didnt realize talking about "my team" was wrong.

And the reason I didnt talk about the Isles, Wings or Ducks is because unlike most here I dont claim to know everything about everything.

I spoke about the B's because I follow the B's.

Just because a team wasn't active doesn't mean they lose.

I still guarantee that the Red Wings will at least be back in the Western Conference Finals next year, even if they don't make another move.

The real loser are the guys signed a million guys, they overreact.

You cannot really say a team was successful/unsuccessful until they start playing games. Additionally, it may take years to pan out.

The Blackhawks got probably the best player that was available. Does that make the winners in free agency? Maybe, maybe not. If they cant resign Toews, Kane, Versteeg, etc. do they really win? They sign a 30 year old to a twelve year contract...

I'll just grade the teams in the Flyers division up to July 3. I realize there are a lot of moves yet to be made.

Rangers---A
Flyers-----B
Isles------C
Pens------C-
Devils-----F

I give the Pens a B-. Hal Gill will be tough to replace - what's his wingspan, like 30 feet? Between Gill and Orpik you had two of the best stay at home Dmen in the league. Losing Gill was obviously a cap thing.

Rupp was a great pickup to be your #2. Lose Godard and the Pens grade go's down to a D IMO. Godard is awesome and one of my faves.

Losing Scuderi leaves you guys a little thin on the blueline, but if Gino and Sid each hang 100+ I guess it doesn't matter. If Guerin and Staal each hang 50+ you guys should have another great year.

FYI -- I hate the Penguins.

The Rangers get big props for dumping Gomez and his ridiculous contract on Montreal, but they don't deserve an A because they let Orr walk. Look for teams to push the Rags around in MSG from the first face off.
