Will Ovechkin drop the gloves?

Hey guys

I was thinking earlier... do you think that one day or eventually Ovechkin will drop the gloves in the NHL?

I would like to think so, as hes a good tough/strong player

I hope that this up coming new season that we will see him drop the gloves several times

Big time? I'll say no. I'd expect about a scrap a season, maybe even 2, based on the scrums he gets himself involved in with his style of play.

hes a big time physical player. But a fighter he is not, likes isles said just expect maybe 1 or 2 small ones because of the way he plays. I dont ever expect a good fight out of him.

Dont worry about the fight you will get out of him but the fight you will get around him. Hes a star player and anyone messing with him messes with washington all together including Brashear, So any fight hes in expect a line brawl, same thing with crosby, i love the star players when things go down everyone and there mothers are involved.

I wouldn't rule it out. I could see him go with some of the smaller agitators like Sean Avery or Steve Downie, somebody like that. But I can't see him being known as a fighter, maybe he'll have Shane Doan fighter status.

The real question is will he get the chance to drop the gloves,

he said himself that "if someone wants to fight me i'm ready" but with brashear, erskine, clymer, etc, as his lookouts he will rarely get the chance to drop em before the mob of caps players come to his aid.

He will probably drop the gloves once or twice a season. I doubt you will see a good fight out of him, but you never know. Like BStreetBullies said, he could get a good one going with a smaller fighter and I could see that happening.

I was gonna post then realized you had about the same points I was gonna make. I've got respect for Ovechkin simply for his playing style, he's big and tough and makes himself known in the offensive zone without cowering down to competition. But he's also smart enough to realize hes to important to the Caps to get injured in an unbalanced scrap. Thats why guys like you mentioned up there are on the roster to back him up.
