Peter Mueller or David Backes
Spezza - His ability to pass can make a bunch of teammates better. Carter scoring only helps him.

Kessel - Gagne in his prime in a second, but that player is no more. Kessel has more immediate upside.

Coburn - More physical. What a f*cken steal for that piece of sh*t Alexei Zhitnik.

Richards - Better overall and would play the same game regardless of where he played. I'm not sure what Datsyuk would look like outside of that Detroit system.

Carcillo - The nuttier the better. Reminds me of a young Darcy Tucker. I would send him to the front of the net on every shift.

Horton - Similar players, but I have more faith on Nathan Horton's ability to be consistent.

Hedman - The hype alone is worth it. What's Johnson done?

Backes - More physical. Mueller can rot in the desert with the rest of the Yotes.

Jeff Carter had more assists and points than Spezza last year.

Kopitar - Backstrom plays with Ovechkin.

Morrow - I think he's tougher than Doan.

Versteeg - Younger.

Penner - I like cheeseburgers and he probably always has a few in his posession at all times. Alright I'd pick Cheechoo.

Seabrook - Plays a little angrier. Bit more offence.

Jovanovski - Not exactly a huge fan of Jovo, but I don't really like Boynton.

Kubina - Love his shot.

Guerin - Seems to care more in his twilight than Tkachuk.

Mason - I'll take the more seasoned Chris over the (so far) one year wonder in Steve.

Wolski - Can score and is a better playmaker than Svatos.

Draper - Guy wins big faceoffs.

Clutterbuck - Hits everything in sight.

Nolan - Still has a bit of a bad attitude when he plays. More willing to go off and pound someone for no reason.

So you're going to tell me you think Jeff Carter distributes the puck better than Spezza, or maybe Spezza and Ottawa had a laughing stock of a season?

This has nothing to do with Richards being Richards, seriously. But you really think Richards' overall game is better? Don't get me wrong, Richards is a really good two-way player and has offensive skills, but Datsyuk is consistently a 90-100 point getter with two Selke trophies on his mantle. He's easily one of the top 5 best players in the league, imo.

How about it...
Crosby - I love Ovechkin, but he's a HUGE injury waiting to happen.

Avery - In his prime Darcy Tucker. Avery's got nothing on Side Show Bob.

Orr - Thank you Mr. Burke.

Tavares - Stamkos really, but I have to represent my home town.

Toews - For the sake of the cabbies in the area.

Sedin - I don't think it matters. I doubt their effectiveness over the long haul without the other.

Kovalchuk - Likes to use his body more. Bit of a mean streak at times.

Pronger - He may bodycheck you. Then again he may elbow you in the head and knock unconscious. I like that. Don't really have to worry about that with Souray.

Richards - Similar players, but I think Richards is a little meaner.

Hossa - Similar hands, but Hossa's got more speed.

Savard - Staal is a better player overall, but man can Marc Savard pass. Having a guy to run your offence like that is huge.

Lucic - He's a beast, Clowe is not.

Vanek - Gaborik is a bandaid.

Iginla - By a wider margin than any other decision.

There is more to hockey then points and trophies. Leadership. Battling in the corners. Standing up for teammates. Finishing checks with authority. Datsyuk does a couple of things extremely well but ignores other areas of the game completely. Mike Richards contributes more to more categories. Also, we've seen what Datsyuk has to offer (not that there's anything wrong with him) but Richards is still on his way up and will only be better.
