Washington Capitals to Unveil New Uniforms at June 22 Draft Day Party

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will unveil their new uniforms at a special Draft Day Party on Friday, June 22, held at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. The event will be held in conjunction with the live broadcast on Versus of the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, which takes place that evening in Columbus, Ohio.

The new uniforms will mark a return to a red, white and blue color scheme – the colors the Capitals wore from their first season in 1974-75 through 1994-95. The Capitals are the first team in the NHL to announce their plans to unveil their new uniforms, which are produced by Reebok and feature the Rbk EDGE Uniform System technology that was introduced at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game in Dallas. The Capitals are the first team planning to have their new uniforms on hand at the NHL Entry Draft.

Im really glad to hear they are going back to the Red/White/Blue scheme. I cant wait to see what some of the new "updated" logo's are gonna look like.

I am not going to lie, but I'm not in favor of this new jersey bullcrap. Who cares what they're supposed to improve, I just think that they're silly. I just may be a bit conservative on this jersey change and I'm sure any fan would be too.

The new jerseys league-wide don't look as bad as I was scared they would, but I still think the traditional jersey style is one of the great things about the NHL. Not thrilled with the transition. As for that image, I'm not a big fan of that jersey if that's what it turns out to be for the Caps.

I hope its as similar as the old ones (early 90's) as they can make them with the new style. I might just buy an old one and get 32 on the back.

I'm hoping the red turns out a little brighter. It needs to pop. But I guess anything is better then the brown rust they currently have.

All of their jerseys have sucked IMO. They need to be a little more creative with the colors than they are. The original was alright, but too dry as compared to the other jerseys around like Canucks, North Stars, and just about everyone else.

God, how many "new" jerseys is this team going to go through? It seems like the jerseys/logos only last 2 or 3 years with this team before they're scrapped. First the blue with the eagle, then the black with the Capitol building...just pick one and go with it already.

I dont mind that linked jersey. It is a hundred times better than the black and gold ones. I mean for craps sake that would be like the Red Wings changing to yellow and green or the blues changing to orange and black, it just doesnt make sense to me. If your the "capitals" in the nations capital they should be the nations colors!
I dont care for the new rbk jerseys in general but I'll deal with it cause it could be worse. I was really excited when they said on the xm homeice that the white jerseys may be home again. That really pissed me off when that got changed. I'll really be upset when I start seeing ads on the jerseys. Hopefully that wont be anytime soon.
