Vote for Boogaard!

Early word says that this year's "Rory Fitzpatrick" is going to be Wade Belak. By "Rory Fitzpatrick" I mean the lesser known player that fans will attempt to vote into the All Star Game. There's a lot of reasons why I think everyone should join in on this.

1) He's an enforcer. During the whole Fitzpatrick thing last year, there was talk on here of organizing something for this year to get an enforcer in there. Well, now even non-fight fans are voting Belak, so why shouldn't we.
2) He's a great entertainer. His segments on Sportsnet prove this. Wade might make the All Star Game worth watching for once.
3) He's deserving of it. Wade has been in the league for many years, protecting his teammates the whole way. He may not be an all-star in the traditional sense, but he's a great team guy.
4) He's a Maple Leaf. Hear me out on this one. Last year Rory had most of the Vancouver fan base voting for him, as well as those who simply thought it was a fun idea. Now if this goes through, Wade will have most of the voters that Rory had last year...and most of Leaf Nation voting for him. That's a hell of a lot of votes.
5) F*** you, Bettman!

Voting opens on the 13th, btw. Help the cause by spreading this to individual team's messageboards. Let's make this happen!

Although I don't care too much for Wade Belak, if this is the guy that HF chooses then I will without a doubt vote for him, and everybody should follow suit regardless of legiance to any other teams.

Up yours Bettman!!!

Could we write in a player NOT in the NHL like Mirasty or Bosse?
Or does it HAVE to be an NHL player?

I am against Belak...

If he was still playing, it would have been a GREAT idea to honor someone like Rob Ray or the Cheif, Craig Berube, but all in all, the write in thing is considered a sideshow by the players..

That'd be awesome.

However, when Belak is one of the leading vote-getters just a night or 2 before the voting ends, Buttfukk and the NHL will once again rig it so that magically on the last day he's not leading anymore, aka Rory.

Belak would probably be the most popular choice among people not from this site since he plays on the team with the biggest fan base on the continent.

Exactly. Us fight fans alone are never going to have the numbers to vote anyone in. But with Leaf Nation on our side, plus assorted other voters, we actually have a pretty good shot at this.

Works for me. Just figured I'd ask if anyone else wanted to nominate someone else.

I'd say set up a vote, but we all know that could get messy, just as long as we don't have any non-cooperating pricks who pick their favs. Failure to vote for chosen enforcer should result in atuomatic suspension from the site!! okay, a bit harsh, I'd go with Josh Gratton, but Belak will suffice. Let's do this!

My vote will still probably go to Belak. He has the perfect personality to run with this and make it fun for everyone. Much better than Rory, who's not really a big entertainer.
