I really don't have much of an opinion on this one. The Kings are an exciting team to watch, and I really enjoyed watching their post-season run so far. As a Flyers fan, I have nothing against Richards or Carter, so seeing them win the Cup would be pretty cool as I've seen them play a ton over the years. I have always hated the Devils, still do, but what they have done this year has been impressive also, but seeing Marty win another one at his age would be pretty cool. I think most people have LA winning, but just for the hell of it I'll go Devils in 7.

The Kings make me want to watch but the Devils make me want to commit hari kiri, what a boring, soft team.

Hey, there's always baseball if this is another series of watching European players in red skate away from everything, play defense 95% of the time, and have their goalie stumble around making brilliant(lucky) save after brilliant(lucky) save. Seen it all before, just the names on the jerseys are different except for Brodeur.

Go Kings, I would be more than happy to be wrong.

Onward
Hey creep, the only one who's been consistently whining non-stop has been you and you continue your trend of crying above.

Again you prove your lack of intelligence by saying the Devils play 95% of their game on defense. '95 was 17 years ago pal. Try watching the games instead of just spewing your standard haterade all over these forums.

Do us all a favor and feel free not to watch the games or post about them. Your bitching won't be missed. Now get back to taking pics with girls who label you "the old creepy guy", post them on the Internet and tell everyone how much you get "laid."

You're laughable.

I think these teams match up pretty well against each other. The Kings have been on an unbelievable run and have looked unbeatable to this point in the playoffs, while the Devils have also been playing some incredible hockey. The Brodeur vs. Quick matchup is interesting, as old vs. young is facing off for the Cup. I honestly just think that LA has been too dominant to this point, and if they keep playing at the same level, they can't lose this series. Any early lapses though, and if the Devils can take an early lead in the series, then the Kings may be in trouble. I'll say LA in 6.

Honestly, I'm not sure who to root for in this one. I typically root for the Devils most years in the East (given the Islanders are always playing golf). And while I like this year's Devils team, I really like what I've seen from the Kings in this postseason, so I haven't picked a favorite yet.

Well that was a long week of waiting plus the rest of today but Game 1 is finally upon us. I hope Sutter has got the guys hungry and lively. This is going to be a fast, hard forechecking series from both teams and will be plain fun to watch.

Looking forward to see if the Kings can keep the streak going tonight!

Go Kings go!

Take the quiz: How well do you know the LA Kings?

Quote:
For their debut season in 1967, team owners chose the colors purple and gold for the Kings' first uniforms because:
a.) They were considered traditional colors of royalty.
b.) They were the same colors worn by the Los Angeles Lakers.
c.) They wanted to use up at least one eye-gougingly awful color combination before the mid-90s expansion teams arrived and took them all.
d.) Hey, nothing says intimidation like a mildly bruised banana.

In the late 1970s, the line of Marcel Dionne, Charlie Simmer and Dave Taylor was known as "The Triple Crown Line" because:
a.) There were three of them, and the Kings' logo was a crown.
b.) The phrase "triple crown" is frequently used in various sports to denote excellence.
c.) The long-time NHL employee in charge of naming lines by just taking each player's initial and making it spell something was apparently sick that day.
d.) They wanted to save the name "600 lbs of unstoppable force" for future use by Dustin Penner.

The last time the Kings made it this deep into the postseason was in 1993, a playoff run which you remember fondly because:
a.) The Kings were a scrappy underdog that played with plenty of heart.
b.) It featured Wayne Gretzky playing arguably the greatest hockey of his legendary career.
c.) Pictures of Barry Melrose's mullet make you feel better about your own high school yearbook photos.
d.) Casually bringing up that year's playoffs still instantly causes any nearby Maple Leaf fan to fall over and twitch on the ground.

The mid- and late-1990's were disappointing for Kings fans, because:
a.) The team had to file for bankruptcy due to overspending on player contracts
b.) Wayne Gretzky was traded to the St. Louis Blues without ever bring a championship to LA.
c.) That guy who does their twitter account barely tweeted anything funny at all.
d.) They realized their long-time "Ensure success by just collecting all of last year's Edmonton Oilers" strategy had a possible flaw.

Los Angeles sports events tend to bring out celebrities. The biggest star you can expect to see at this year's Stanley Cup Finals is:
a.) Famous mega-celebrities like Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson.
b.) Well-known hockey fans like Cuba Gooding Jr. or Rainn Wilson.
c.) A confused Jack Nicholson wondering why everyone is just playing through their injuries instead of making a big deal out of every bruised shin or tummy ache.
d.) Some old guy who says he's Paulina Gretzky's dad.

If the Kings' can go on to win the Stanley Cup, captain Dustin Brown can expect to get his hands on the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP if:
a.) He continues his dominant physical play.
b.) He can score one or two more clutch goals when the team needs him most.
c.) He manages to recover from whatever inner-ear injury he recently suffered that makes him dramatically fall over every time anyone brushes up against him.
d.) Jonathan Quick lets him borrow it.

Once the Finals begin, Kings coach Darryl Sutter will come to be known as:
a.) The only coach to reach the Finals by eliminating the #1, #2 and #3 seed in his conference with two different teams.
b.) A fierce competitor attempting to win his first career Stanley Cup.
c.) The latest reason your Flames fan friend randomly breaks into tears so often.
d.) Smiley McChatterbox, according to east-coast media who've spent the last six weeks covering John Tortorella.

With a full week between the end of their third round series and the start of the Finals, the Kings will be using their time off to:
a.) Break down video of their possible opponents and devise an effective gameplan.
b.) Rest and recuperate from various injuries.
c.) Go up to everyone they see, ask what the score of last night's Flyers' game was, and then laugh hysterically while enthusiastically high-fiving (Mike Richards and Jeff Carter only)
d.) Obsessively measure and re-measure their stick curves.

Congratulations, you've completed the quiz! Now tally up your score to find out how you did.
Mostly a: You know a lot about the Los Angeles Kings.
Mostly b: You know a little bit about the Los Angeles Kings.
Mostly c: You should be deeply embarrassed by your complete and utter lack of knowledge when it comes to the Los Angeles Kings.
Mostly d: Hello, member of the local Los Angeles sports media!

Hardly any Kings fans at all here at the arena. The only 2 I saw were as tan as Snooki and asking if there would be calamari in the suite they were going to.

ok

If it is a short series then the Kings in five if not Devs in 7. I think the Bigger, harder hitting Kings wear down the ok but steady Devils D and beat Marty in unspectacular style. The way it looks for me anyway, the Kings have beaten a real good Canuck team an excellent Blues team and an ok but spirited yote team and beat them bad. The Devils were taken to the limit by a very soft Pather team, a completely uninterested Flyer team and a spent Rangers team, which was really their only challenge of the post season and sin to say if they played the rangers in the first or second round they CERTAINLY would not be here today. The Devs have experience and some damn good players though and Marty while having ok numbers in the playoffs has come up big in spots. Quick has been fantastic and faced much better scoring forwards than the Devils will put out. word of note do not underestimate the Devils though. Sneaky, lucky and fortunate are 3 words that come to mind. Amazing though that the 2 worst seeded teams in history are playing for the cup and whoever wins will be the worst seed ever to win the cup...That's hockey

Apparently Henrik Lundquist had a rock in his shoe that prevented him from playing up to par.

And he had a bad leak in his house that kept him from getting a good night's sleep too.

And Marion Gaborik had mono.

And Mark Staal's hermit crab died before game 6.

It was a perfect storm of 'bummers' for the Rangers that explains them getting beat.

This is going to be a good series in my opinion. Devils are playing well with the two best individual players in Parise and Kovalchuk and LA is just a huge, suffocating and physical team.

These will be entertaining 2-1 games at least. Well, we'll see.

I'll go Kings in 6. They're younger, bigger and faster through 4 lines.

Kings seemed to have elevated the physical play, entertaining so far.
