I didn't know they took their clothes off at hooters

Yeah us Canadians love hockey, and will continue to support our teams no matter what cuz all of us can follow the puck and don't need play stoppages every 40 seconds to get hot dogs. The Stanley Cup belongs to Canada legally.

Not for nothing, but I'm hearing rumors that there might be an announcement of some kind around 8pm tonight.

As an interesting tidbit, if a deal is reached for a 48 game schedule. I saw rumors on twitter that the schedule would consist of playing each team in your division 7 times and each other team in your conference twice, one at home and once on the road.

I'd prefer it be that way to hopefully build rivalries in each division.

Didn't they try that with the 8 meeting cycle with divisional opponents at the end of the last lockout? I remember it being a massive failure on that front.

More meetings alone don't build rivalries, animosity and tension do. Which is almost extinct in the NHL at this point.

I'm not expecting much either, and I don't disagree with your overall premise.

However, your surely going to get sick of seeing the same team 7 times and some teams already have a history from last year...and I'm hoping that can be rekindled.

I have been so negative through all this...and quite frankly just a sliver of hope is sorely needed.

The shortened season in the 90s made for some good hockey I thought.

One could argue that each game was more important, and therefore harder fought. It remains to be seen exactly how much "fight" the NHL has left in its game, but each game having twice as much impact in the standings would normally heighten tension. Then we're disappointingly reminded that the NHL still enforces its overbearing rules and hands out suspensions like hall passes and even that possibility seems to fade.

An 82-game season is definitely too long either way.

Americans (and other countries too) idolize sports stars and celebrities and have made them filthy rich because of it. Their talent has always been there, all they have to do is show up and stay healthy or stay out of jail.

Lionel Messi has something like 70 million followers on Facebook or Twitter or whatever the fock it is. 70 MILLION!!! He's a midget who is really good at dribbling, passing, and scoring goals. That's it. He probably couldn't even spell fiscal cliff nor does he care cuz he makes millions and millions of dollars. 33 million Euros to be exact and wouldn't spit on you or me if we were on fire but we idolize the living crap out of him, he's hounded for autographs, has cameramen follow him everywhere he goes, and women send them their panties in the mail.

As in everything, we overdo it. The owners want more, the players want more, the fans want more, the peanut vendors want more, the janitors want more and on and on and on.

And we watch for entertainment. Want to hear something sick? I do the majority of my sports watching at a STRIP CLUB!! Talk about wanting to be entertained!?!?!? I'm a sick fock.
"We" don't "idolize the living crap" out of Lionel Messi. In fact, I've never even heard of him.

I get your point though... although you probably could have found a better example!

Any hockey in the 90's shortened season or not is great compared to the **** we see today. You can't really make a comparison.

It really showed in the playoffs more than anything if I remember correctly. Yea, with the way the rules are know there is a lot of passion missing in today’s game. I just hope we see some NHL hockey this year, as much as I like minor leagues there is just something not right about a team not raising the cup at the end of the year. The NHL, players, owners and everyone involved should be ****ing embarrassed.
