Sergei Bobrovsky Wins Vezina Trophy

CHICAGO -- Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets has won the Vezina Trophy for 2012-13, awarded to the "goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at his position," as selected by NHL General Managers. Prior to 1981-82, the Vezina was awarded to the goaltender(s) whose team allowed the fewest goals during the regular season, the current criterion for the William M. Jennings Trophy.

Bobrovsky received 17 first-place votes and was named on 26 of 30 ballots for 110 points. His point tally doubled that of the second-place finisher, Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers, who collected 55 points from votes on 19 ballots. Points are allocated on a 5-3-1 basis for first through third place.

Bobrovsky (21-11-6, 2.00 goals-against average, .932 save percentage, four shutouts) backstopped Columbus' late-season surge that kept the club in contention for a playoff berth until the final moments of the season. The first-time Vezina finalist appeared in all but one of the Blue Jackets' franchise-record 12-game point streak (8-0-4) from Feb. 26 through Mar. 22 that spurred the club's move up the standings. He won eight of his last nine decisions from April 9-27, posting a 1.64 goals-against average and .945 save percentage in that span. Bobrovsky ranked second among NHL goaltenders in save percentage and sixth in goals-against average.

Another former Flyer collecting hardware. Guess it's the first time a non-playoff team goaltender has won it! Interesting.

Would of liked to see Hank win again but no issues with Bob winning. Columbus made a remarkable run in the last 24 games to almost make the playoffs and Bob was a big reason why!
Good for him!

Congrats to this guy. Nice to see them vote on who they think is the BEST goalie and not the most popular.

I'm glad the Bobrovsky won, but after watching the playoffs, it's amazing Rask wasn't even nominated. That guy is a freak of nature.

Rask will win one in the next couple of years. He's only 26 and will only getting better the more he plays.

Other than Harding winning the Masterton and MacLean winning the Adams, this is the only one they got right.

I just thought Bergeron deserved it more. And that's coming from a Leaf fan.

Nice to see "Bob" win it, he worked very hard getting back to his former style that made him an NHL goalie. That bozo goalie coach in Philly almost ruined him for life trying to make him(bob) adapt to his way of stopping pucks, which btw was the reason he is currently a coach and not a player anymore.
