As you saw with Gaborik if he's not scroing he's useless. This is the case with Nash.
Nash was good in the Olympics. He's a world class player. But a one way player who will cost you a lot in cap space.
I wouldnt touch him considering the price all the way around.
See we agree on alot of items!

Ya ya Toronto sucks, Burke's a bitch...blah blah blah. But at least educate yourself. Toronto does have the assets to acquire Nash. It's Howson for **** sake. Now if Nash wants to come home to play still, that would be great, Toronto was on his list hopefully it still is.

First rounder, second rounder, roster, prospect, or some combo of that. Too much? Nah.

However, peckerhead just came out with this.

Cox: Maple Leafs likely to pass on Rick Nash, pitch for Roberto Luongo.

It it's true Toronto will set themselves back even more.

Nash is a lot better than your typical 60 point player. He's capable of elite scoring totals if put into the right situation. I won't argue about the contract as just about every contract nowadays is out of control, length wise and financially speaking. But don't allow the lack of points to give you the wrong impression. Nash is an elite caliber player.

Don't want Luongo but he'd be better than Reimer or anything we got. Nash on the other hand would improve any club, he's proven he's the real deal as much as he can given the circumstances, prospects are not.

Maybe he wants to play for Bettman in Pheonix now, who knows.

It's true that sometimes a change of scenery does wonders. Frank Mahovlich was dead in Toronto playing for Imlach and goes to Detroit and scores 49 goals and then goes to Montreal and is all world with 310 points in 263 regular season games and 58 playoff points in 49 games with 2 CUPS. He fit like a glove in Montreal!
The problem here is Columbus wants a ridiculous package and I wouldn't break up the Rangers core group! They made the 1979 finals with a nice young core and destroyed it the next fall dealing for Barry Beck who was only 23 and talked about like the next Denis Potvin and Larry Robinson rolled into one!
That deal turned out to be a disaster!

Gaborik had 41 goals and led the team in scoring this year and then we found out he played 19 playoff games with a torn labrum that he didn't tell anyone about until after the Rangers were eliminated! He just had major surgery and is out for at least 6 months!
I actually have greater respect for Gaborik once I read what had happened to him and how he played with a torn shoulder!
Richards led the team in scoring in the playoffs and it turns out that Gaborik was hurt badly all playoff and Hagelin did nothing with 3 assists in 18 playoff games!
The problem with Nash is the absurd asking price and his massive contract! Gaborik's deal is almost over! I think he has two years left!
Richards deal is gonna end up being like A-Rod with the Yankees! I agree there!

Very true. I mean it isn't as though Nash has had a lot of support playing in Columbus. On a better team with someone to pass him the puck, Nash could easily be a 40 goal scorer again. Probably even 50. And he's barely into his prime. He has a lot of good years left in him.

Of course the Blue Jackets are going to expect a huge return for him and rightfully so. They can't just give a guy like Nash away for little to nothing. Obviously Howson is setting the bar way high and he'll eventually have to settle for something in the middle.

And that wasn't enough.

Dunno why you wouldn't want a Nash compared to those two. *Give him some teammates I'm sure he'd start sporting close to 50 goals again.

Plus for playoff hockey, you want that Canadian

edit* I'll have to correct myself, Gaborik put up the same numbers in NY has he did with the Wild, and I don't think he was playing with anyone in Minnesota either, but still better than Columbus.

You mean Howson And Patrick? Howson is relying heavily on Patrick, and he will make sure the CBJ doesn't get screwed in a deal.
If it was Howson alone, then yes, I'd be worried.

The only thing we can say about that without being wrong is... the team that is going to get Rick Nash is going to overpay a lot for him.

@hockeyyinsiderr tweeted that CBJ and PHI reached a deal involving Rick Nash, but Nash has refused to accept.

Does anyone know if the guy reporting this is legit?
