I never heard of Oliwa getting into legal trouble before. I liked him with NJ (1997-2000, not 2005). But this is some pretty serious stuff.

after being welcomed eagerly in his first seasons with NJ, i remember the entire lockerroom and then the front office soured on him quickly - and it was because of the kind of person that he is.

i remember once during a pregame skate he shot a puck as hard as he could into the stands and it just missed some kids. you could see a lot of his fellow players on the ice scowling at him.

I saw this article the other day but didn't want to post it until a reliable translation surfaced.

But seriously, spousal abuse sucks. Especially from a guy like Oliwa who we could count on to give us tons of fights during the season.

Oliwa is the first NHLer I've heard accused of spouse abuse. Does anyone know of others? Even one case is one too many, but it doesn't seem to be a big problem among hockey players as it is in the NFL, NBA and MLB.
