Huh?

Canada is under the protection of the US military?

The world views Canada as "Americas smaller clone"?

Where the **** do you come up with this ****? Your military can hardly protect themselves (Iraq, Afghan, Somalia etc..), let alone protecting our country.

As for the other nonsense. The only morons that think Canada is Americas smaller clone, is Americans.

Your arrogance and ingnorance is appalling...and some of you wonder why most countries hate the US.

I second that post, ChiefJunior!!! Well said!!

And as for "talking down the fattass Americans", I think the loudmouth American public does that just fine without Canada's help.

Do you not think the US prospers from Canada? It is a two way street bud. The US depends on Canada as much as Canada depends on the US.

Why do you think the US & China (oil companies) are in Alberta? To play hippity-hop at the barber shop? They need OUR OIL & are desperate for it.

So with all do respect, ease of on your US pride bull****, and show some respect to Canada.

Not that I agree with what he said (because I don't), one of your fellow Canadians started the shyt-slinging toward Americans. Did you really expect to not have shyt flung back at you?

I don't care what someone else had to say or said.

I spoke up because the "claims" being made are ridiculous. I don't hate the US, however the idea that the US is all this & that is hilarious, and shows ignorance. What is the point of that?

Anyways, the NHL will go on strike and I could care less. Junior hockey and the AHL will be good enough for me.

And surprise, surprise... Who started the sh#t sling, again? I think it was, of course, a loud mouth American... Hmmm, surprise again the stereotype fit.

I love the game too much to watch it crumble with this little weasel Bettman at the controls... Get this guy out and I guarentee the NHL machine comes alive again!

There was also no point to saying "Who gives a **** what they think" and "Americans barely give a **** about their own country." If it's OK for you to speak up about ridiculous claims, then it's OK for an American to do the same, regardless of if the claims are ridiculous or not. Both of them should be criticized for slinging ****, not just one.

And I don't hate Canada either. I've been there many times and love the country and its people. I just can't stand stereotypes being made about either country.

Dude, we beat all those countries in like 6 months. Its the rebuilding and instituting new governments is whats killing us buddy. To win a war, you take control of the capital, we did that 7 years ago. We should of left after that but we are run by bunch of war mongering sociopaths.

I think we did a fine job (and the few thousand Candians helping) protecting our borders and yours since I have yet to see any army step foot on our lands... Terrorists, yes, but they are impossible to stop and not an army.

You haven't beaten any of those countries. Really, does this have to be explained to you? Like Vietnam, Somalia was a disaster & Iraq & Afghan will follow suit. The US has NO control in those places, and to be fair, no outside country ever will.

Isn't GDP money? What do you mean by GDP in terms of money?

That's a very American thing to say.

The NHL will NOT recover from another lockout. They should do anythin and everything within their power to avoid that situation. The NHL is not like the NBA, which has the ability to lose part of a season then continue like nothing happened. The NHL is a niche sport in the USA, which, face it, is the country the NHL really cares about due to its television contract with NBC. It took the NHL SEVEN YEARS to finally get a legitimate TV contract and start breaking some of its old ratings records. What will happen this time is anyone's guess, but I don't think any of us care to find out.

The biggest problem the NHL has is these outrageous contracts being thrown around to Kovalchuk, Parise, Suter, Weber, Luongo... The Suter/Weber situation is especially bad because it involves a small market team losing one of its star players and almost losing another. I admire Paul Holmgren's brass set signing Weber to that ridiculous offer sheet, but how is it in any way good for the NHL to have its small market teams get handcuffed by richer teams and lose its best player(s)? The NFL and MLB can survive with haves and have-nots; they make billions upon billiona of dollars every year and have enormous popularity. The NHL, on the other hand, goes as its smallest markets go. When its small market teams struggle, the NHL struggles. Small market teams can't make money unless they win. They can't win unless they can keep their best players. They can keep their best players when teams like the Wild and Flyers throw around absurd contracts like no one has to pay them. THAT'S the NHL's biggest problem, and I have very little faith anything is going to be agreed upon that will reign it back in.

Canada produced Ryan Reynolds and Drake. Does not get anymore American than that.

How the **** did we not beat Iraq/Afganastan, we overthrew their governments. It does not get anymore beaten than that.

And yes, Canada is pretty much under our Military umbrella. Ever hear of the Nato alliance, 65% of it is America's military/money. Of the 1 trillion total spent by all Nato parties, US of A is responsible for 600 billion. Your welcome Canada. That more than makes up for the oil we get from you guys.

GDP is also services and goods blah blah not just money I was just using the money factor to keep things simple.

They came back after the 2004 lockout with no big dent in the fan base. The NHL as a whole won't suffer according to the theories of Bettman and Fehr. Certain teams will take a short term hit, like the Coyotes. It will all be back to normal in a matter of months though.

The NHL has had two lockouts within 10 years and their fans have yet to find the guts to do what baseball fans did after 94. I will be pleasantly surprised if they leave after this one, but past experiences gives me no confidence.

As for the Devils, I love to have on them, but I think they're safe. We know there is one Devils fan on here who will be back no matter what.

Figures that the first season I'm actually looking forward to in years is in jeopardy.

I'm not going to get invoved in the US vs Canada crap, because I really like it up there and being in a border town we see a lot of Canadians/business etc.... but the fact is that if not for the US, there would be no viable NHL, period - and vise versa.
