Most of them are better hockey players than you or I would assume based on their fight card. Guys like Parros, for example, would be middle of the pack AHL players without their fighting skills. They probably wouldn't cut it in the KHL or Swedish league, but surely they could compete in, say, Ireland or England or France, no?

last time a few of the enforcer signed to play in the british Elite league. In the UK they play a very North American style of hockey where fighting is embraced, it's just obviously the skill level is much lower.

understand im not trying to be mean, but this is common sense to know that this will never happen for many reasons.
Are you blind or have you just been in your shell for the past year. Mirasty,Yablonski,Gratton and Simon are all in the KHL. Koci is even playing in a Chez league for the love of god. And Gillies of all players just signed in the KHL this year so really my question isnt really that all stupid or "lacking common sense" because if any of those players i just named can sign over there then guys like McGrattan, Orr an Parros shouldnt have a problem. I believe my knowledge for the sport of hockey is actually pretty good Chilly

if you actually followed the khl worth anything, you'd notice that they changed the rules on fighting and those guys you listed that are there, have one fight in roughly 20-25 games combined. hockey is sweden, finland, germany and many other countries are about skill and speed, none of which most of the locked out fighters have in their games.

to use koci as an example is bad as well considering he's in his home country playing and that's an easy place for him to go and play.

so hence my lack of hockey knowledge statement, still holds true.

If Gillies, Yablonski and Mirasty can play in the KHL Shelley and McGrattan sure as hell can.
They can also go to the UK where they also have somebody to fight.

Just because one doesn't follow the KHL worth anything is hardly a knock on one's hockey knowledge. I could not tell you one team in the KHL outside of one that starts VIT something and I consider myself knowledgable towards the sport. Coming from someone that gets almost all of his Knowledge as a self proclaimed Media junkie you have little room to question someones hockey knowledge.

to compare guys like yablonski, gillies and mirasty to guys like orr, parros and mcgrattan is not showing knowledge.

yablonski, gillies and mirasty went over there, one because they are all friends. two, because of the pay that they didn't get in the states. orr, parros and mcgrattan have no reason to go overseas. they make 2-3x as much here and don't have to pay for insurance or lower pay for teams to take them on.

also it's well known and long known that hockey is europe is about speed and skill, not goonery. even the khl toned back their goonery and rules with fighting. so while yes someone may have hockey knowledge, they may have it in other capacities then this topic at hand.

This lockout will probably be the end of the NHL enforcer. These guys can't skate to begin with.. If they're not practicing, skating, or moving around somewhat they'll be useless when the season finally does start. I'm hoping Big Mac plays with WB/S. Even if he does see NHL ice again will anyone even fight him? Probably not. Look at last year. He issued countless challenges, especially in the game against Ottawa when he challenged Neil and Carkner both numerous times only to be declined, and again in one of the last games against Philly he was declined by Shelley. It's almost to the point that when the HW's do play against each other, they really don't want to fight each other anymore. It's a shame. When a HW fight does happen it just seems like there's no emotion behind it like there used to be. Look back to 2009 when Godard and Orr fought each other 4 or 5 times, each winning a couple. That was a heated rivalry between two emotional guys who wanted to fight, and wanted to win those fights. You just don't see that kind of emotion from these enforcers anymore. There used to be a time when you could look at each team's line up and if each team had a HW dressed, you knew they were almost guaranteed to fight within the first 10 minutes of the game. That just doesn't happen anymore.
