NHL Cancels Regular Season Games Through October 24th

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through October 24. A total of 82 regular-season games were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Oct. 24.

The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL

Whatever, I can still attend AHL and FHL games for way cheaper anyway. More fights too.

And the owners don't give a **** about this.

As Trevor Linden said, this is the worst time of the year for the owners with football in full swing and the baseball playoffs kicking off. The last thing they care about is losing games in October and November.

This comes as no surprise

I wonder if there is a *REAL* drop-dead cuttoff date for the season in the owners and Bettmans mind, probably not yet but im sure they have to start thinking about 1 soon

I also wonder whos job will get stronger and who will get weaker after this nonsense ends, that will be interesting as it plays out more and more

..aaand the season is lost. 82 games or it means nothing. 94-95 is only a sort of "interlude season" to me.

My deepest phuck yous to all that had a hand in this happening.

I have have been following the lockout loosely, just reading newspaper articles about it. It seems like I'm reading the same darn thing everyday. "No progress..."millions of dollars apart"..."so and so thinks it will end soon" I'm just amazed how such a great game can come to a standstill. Oh well, there's plenty of other sports to keep entertained like the Yankees getting #28

There is still a chance for an 82 game season.

The 82 games scheduled between opening night, Oct. 11, and through Oct. 24have been canceled, but if a new CBA deal between the NHL and the NHLPA can be settled during the next three weeks, there's a still a chance an 82-game schedule could be salvaged — as closely scheduled as the games would then become.

They can all suck a dick.

I can only imagine the type of reaction Bettman will be getting now as compared to the already bad reaction he used to get whenever he'd show face at some game or event.

And more injuries. Looks like Buttman and the owners are giving the players the stinky glove........

From what I understand it is the players that want more money from the owners? I don't know the specifics. I'm sure somebody will correct me if i'm wrong. Either way this league is shooting itself in the foot!
