I'm confused? The title of this thread is "NHL Cancels Regular Games Through November 30th" but all I'm seeing is an argument about soccer and hockey?

Where is the admin anyway?

So the absolutely most absurdly overpriced "academy" for soccer in Toronto is still cheaper than hockey by at least 200$. Neat.

Sounds like we all agree.

Actually it is one of a few, and they all charge between $3000 - 5000, which is roughly $1000 - 2000 more than hockey

Can we move on now.

Saved you a few thousand bucks with a 3second Google search. You can thank me by getting me a set of wrenches (standard) for Christmas.

Hockey is not FAR more expensive. Sorry bud. What is great about this site, is the amount of armchair know-it-all's who profess such great knowledge & wisdom about things they actually have never been involved in & will never be.

EDIT - when you have a child or children doing both, then feel free to tell me the differences in costs.

$2400 for soccer, $2600 for hockey -- pretty close wouldn't you say???????????????

http://www.academysoccer.ca/index.php?link=cost It lists both club cost (which is what my son is on) and academy cost (a rough estimate for both - but this should give you an idea)

http://www.italiansoccertrainingcamps.com/ -- take a peek at what it costs to attend a camp for a week at this soccer club

There are tons out there.
there's no ice rinks in Africa because they have no money Einstein.

They do have plenty of land and some rich white people have given them a few 10 dollar soccer balls to play with. Notice how many World cup soccer players come out of Africa? Plenty and they dont need to spend money doing so.
You're a sucker for spending all that on soccer. But dont project your stupidity to others please.

My son tried hockey here in arizona for a while. Cost me around 1000 to get him involved. He now plays flag football and it cost me about 200. that's sounds comparible to what it should be for soccer.

Who's teaching your son to play soccer Beckett?

I guess the 1000's of kids in Ontario that pay that money and more are all suckers.

Thanks.

When reality hits, please feel free to let me know. Until then, keep providing more dumb information with the rest of the anti-soccer crowd. I am so glad you nitwits think your assumptions actually equal fact.

How have you not yet grasped the point that soccer, on its most basic level, is a lot cheaper than hockey, on its most basic level?

It's like saying a bicycle isn't cheaper than a used car because YOU dropped $6,000 on the best road bike on the market.

I am not anti-soccer. I am just of the 99.99% of the population that thinks(knows) soccer is cheaper to learn, play, be a part of, participate in, get proper equipment for, etc etc than hockey is. That is it. No secret agendas.

Might as well throw in a set of matching metrics to make up for all that hullabaloo now too.

My niece plays on a rep team in thunder bay. It's more like a couple of hundred dollars.

Quit lying!!

are you sure your son's costs aren't being reflected in the special needs soccer he plays? All those padded helmets and drool gaurds costs money.

I get it!!!

Hahahahahahahaha.

This is great.

I do love how all the rejects come out of the woodwork to try and prove some point, when all it is based upon is what you THINK, but not what you know.

Please, keep trying. Someone on here must have an IQ over 70, the question is where can I find him/her?

Thanks for the laughs.

173 REP soccer teams from Ontario (U12)

So roughly 2500 special needs kids (parents must be too, correct) that pay a premium to play soccer. Who would have thought?

Thanks for trying.

I do love how all the rejects come out of the woodwork to try and prove some point, when all it is based upon is what you THINK, but not what you know.

Please, keep trying. Someone on here must have an IQ over 70, the question is where can I find him/her?

Thanks for the laughs.
You'd be lucky to get a pair of used hockey skates for the price of new soccer cleats, let alone the rest of the equipment needed for hockey. Dude, do you have mental issues??

Are you retarded?

I'm not sure where it is you shop, but you do realize there are plenty of places here to get used skates for under $40. You also do realize that the price of some soccer shoes are just under $200.

You also realize that you can get everything (minus your used skates and a helmet) for just over $100 at CDN tire here, correct?

So take in to account those prices, plus the $2000 - 2500 it costs to play rep hockey, and then add the new shoes to the price of $2000 - 2500 to play soccer, and you will see it is roughly the same.

Now if you want to play and learn at a higher level in soccer, then an academy will cost you up to $5000, where as playing at the AAA level (which is the highest you can go) will still cost you roughly $2500.

Since my kid plays both, soccer and hockey (although not AAA - only AA) how is it that I don't know what I am talking about, when none of you are in the same situation?

How can any of you argue when none of you have a child that does both, or even one?

Get over it. None of you, not ONE, have any clue. Case closed. Move on.

Dude, you have money obviously and are an awesome parent. And you want the best for your awesome kid. You spent a few extra bucks to get him what you think is the best. OWN IT. Be proud of it. Boast about it even. But don't try to pretend that's what the world standard is.
