You watching the Subway Super Series tonight? I just watched the 2 games against the Q. I will watch game 3 tonight Russia against the OHL. The OHL has historically dominated against the Russian Kids going 18-0!

Stop and think for a second chilly , if the sponsors and vendors start demanding refunds on their investments that will definitely make the greedy owners think about what they are doing , the TV networks could very well do the same thing , after all they have hundred of millions of dollars invested in televising NHL games ..

It was a excellent game, much better then game 1. The Q's top line last night was fantastic and it had 2 17 year old players on the top line. Here's a MacKinnon spotlight video from last nights game. This kid is special and should go first or second in the 2013 NHL draft.

i did think...all that would really equate to is interest that was earned going back to the vendors. it won't make a damn difference. im also sure most vendors don't shell out $500 million to where it would make that big of a difference for the nhl to give back money to the vendors if asked, demanded.

also if you had thought for a second, you would realize that the owners will just make that money up again because diehard fans will come back along with other vendors if those affected by the lockout, leave them.

Generally speaking, vendors/sponsors can seek compensation only after 25 percent of the regular schedule is lost. All sponsor contracts with the NHL typically have similar language defining when they are entitled to compensation for opportunities and profits lost due to the lockout.

One of the reasons many believe that the NHL will resume play in December is that it corresponds with the point at which the cancelled games might oblige the league to take care of its sponsors. When the NBA locked out its players last season, for instance, it was careful to still play a 66-game regular season, keeping them within the number not qualifying for compensation.

Molson Coors’ indignation is not a trifle to the NHL. Sources say that both it and NBC are sufficiently powerful enough to pressure commissioner Gary Bettman’s hand. No doubt the comments of Swinburn made Bettman’s stressful day in meetings all the more enjoyable. Hey, Gary, this Bud's for you.

Comparing $50 an hour and a $2.4mil. avg salary goes beyond logic. I understand your point about your company. As I have stated, I am in a union, I know what it is like to not have your contract honoured and what it is like for the owner to bargain in bad faith. However, fighting to make a living, and fighting to continue to be rich (beyond most peoples dreams & beyond most of our realities) playing a child's game (yep, it still is, no matter how you want to twist it) is ridiculous.

You say NHL'rs are unique. However using the worlds pop. as an example is also illogical. Please remind me how the elderly, a baby, a handicapped person etc.. can play hockey let alone in the NHL? You also fail to mention or realize that many countries in the world don't even have people playing hockey, nor care for it. Be realistic here. They have 700 players because that is what is needed to fill up the teams in the league. If they expanded and added 10 more teams, they would have 200 more players, or if they cut teams they would have less.

You claim I am bitter about money and how much I earn, but here you are complaining about making less money. Does that not make you bitter as well?

What country lives by hockey? Let me guess, Canada? Funny, I live here, and as far as I know, hockey is now SECOND, to soccer here. I hate to tell you this, but hockey registration is going down every year here. It will not get any better any time soon.

Anyways, again, call me what you want, but I will never have sympathy for a millionaire. NEVER.

If your boss offered you %50 of the profits, would you turn it down?
Ah forget it the points are lost on you. You seem to miss not just the main point but every other one after that. On purpose or not I do not know. And soccer will NEVER replace hockey in canada buddy....ever. I coach youth soccer for a long time and most kids play 3-5 years and are out because other sports take over.

You're right, I missed the point. I am quite sure I am not the only one that missed it either.

I also never said soccer would replace hockey in Canada. I stated that registration for hockey is down, while soccer has now become the #1 sport played in Canada.

I'm glad you coach soccer. However just because the kids you coached did not choose soccer as the number one sport for them to play, means absolutely nothing. Generalization.

Soccer is the number one sport played everywhere overall because it's cheap. It's kind of a moot point that doesn't really matter, as in some places, such as North America and Canada in particular, soccer isn't taught well enough that will produce good players. They put their kids in to keep them somewhat active but usually they either want to move on to some other sport or the other sports they are also enrolled in take precedence and they stick with that, because the coaching and such is so much more progressive, as with Hockey.

Soccer is cheap? Do you know anything about rep soccer? ex. U13 Mooredale has $250 000 budget (team from Toronto area - 3-4xs more than any rep AAA hockey team) ; Ajax ($2000 to play the outdoor season) (another area close to Toronto). Cost for my son to play soccer this year - just over $2400 ; cost for him to play hockey $2600.

There are plenty of good coaches that are teaching soccer here. There are plenty of talented kids playing soccer here. You have no clue whatsoever when it comes to this. Don't generalize or make some stupid assumptions. There are clubs around the GTA who are affiliated with AC Milan, Arsenal, Celtic etc... Many coaches from Europe come over and hold clinics etc.. scout kids.. the game is opening up here and starting to build a foundation.

Another assumption. Many many kids are dropping hockey to stick with soccer. Far more than you or I can count. You think the coaching in hockey is great? For every great minor hockey coach, there are 100s that suck ass.

The fact is, hockey registration is down. It is dropping every year. While no one is suggesting hockey will not be relevant, the fact is, soccer is becoming more & more popular.

Just out of curiosity, why so much? Here in the US, when you play hockey...you buy the equipment. It isn't provided to you by the school like football equipment is (atleast around the majority of the country). Soccer really doesn't have much in terms of equipment, so where does a cost nearly equalling hockey come in? You pay for ice time, and soccer is usually at a field which is usually much cheaper to rent. Is your son playing in some advanced league or something like that? I've never heard of it costing that much to play soccer around here unless he is in some sort of serious league. Just wondering.

Hate to tell you that you are getting ripped off or you are just plain lying. No where have I ever heard of soccer costing so much. Like I said I have coached for years rep soccer and train with UK elite league and even private lessons and all year around does not even come close to costing anywhere near what you are paying. Hockey is down BECAUSE it coasts so much to play and people don't have that type of money to throw around any more. Soccer is CHEAP and will always be that is why it is most popular 3rd world countries and poorer nations. Plus hockey being a cold weather sport it cost tons of money in warmer climates because of ice time rentals.
